I mentioned last week about how I was distraught about some of the craziness that is going on with the universe right now. I thought that maybe it was just hitting my social circle especially hard, but it's everywhere. Something has just been more "off" than usual.
Bad things happen to good people each and every day, but I feel like lately it's been a never ending circle of crap. Divorce here, break up there, lost jobs, can't find a job, health problems...mix in a little stress about money and a little infidelity and we've about got it covered.
Don't believe me? Just think back on your fbook feed from the last 2 weeks or so. Aside from a few babies, mission, and engagement announcements, my news feed has been blowing up with even more drama and other depressing status updates and relationship changes. I don't know if it was the full moon or what, but it's getting old.
Sure, I feel like nothing really bad has happened to me personally and most of these things that are going on in other people's lives don't have any effect on my life whatsoever, but it's still bothersome. I try to remain positive through most things like this but, when it comes down to it, all of this crap going on occasionally rocks my hope in certain things and scares me a little...
...Especially when it comes to relationships. I think you've read enough of what I feel about relationships and marriage. That I'm all about love, your relationship status does not define you, that when you find someone you care about you better work hard to keep them around [yada, yada, yada].
Well, I see people depressed about their single status, rushing into relationships and marriages, people lying to people who they say they love, and it actually scares me. How do you know who to trust? How can you know who a person really is in such a short period of time? How do you try to believe the good when there is so much "bad" going on in the world in general?
Those are just some of the questions I've thought as I've learned about some of the recent happenings going on with people I know (or who my friends know). Yes, I know that I shouldn't be scared but that's just how my brain works, I'm a realist and quite frankly, I probably watch too much TV. That, and I think the biggest factor are all of these online dating stories I hear about everyday. It's frightening. Some people are just really really weird and mucho liars.
So, I know that I have no say in how people should live their lives, and I know that sometimes people simply end up not being who you thought they were or maybe even what you thought you wanted in your life at the time, and that I'm probably being super dramatic, but I just can't help but feel that most of these relationship problems/failures and anxieties could be solved if people just learned to be honest with themselves and others.
[This is the part where I go off so you can stop here if you want, I won't be offended:)]
Examples:
1- If Jane knew that Tony had "X" problem then Jane would have known if it was something they could live or work with BEFORE she agreed to get engaged/marry Tony. Whether it is something Jane can accept or not, at least Tony doesn't have to live with such a big secret and Jane can respect Tony for telling the truth, and either grow to love him more, or be grateful that she was able to move on.
2- If Bill knew that Gretchen still loved Ted more that she loved him then Gretchen could be with Ted and Bill could have used those 2 years she was lying and cheating on him to grieve and move on.
I know these might be a little extreme but I feel like things like this are happening all the time and it baffles me; I just don't get it. I guess what I'm saying is that it's all about honesty. I'm not just talking about romantic relationships either, but honesty in our friendships as well.
There is no need to lie about the way we feel, what we want, or about who we are as a person. If a person truly loves you, they will love you for your imperfections. If you lie, you aren't giving that other person a chance to love you and help with whatever the problem is and you're taking away their opportunity to learn from the situation by your side. And if you have to hide something from someone then how much do you really care about that person? How strong is your relationship? And for some of my Facebook "Friends,": Sometimes people just tell you they love you or care about you and only come around when they aren't whoring around with "so and so" or for whatever the excuse may be that week. So please, do us all a favor and be honest with yourself. Pull yourself out of denial and realize that a relationship built on lies will never work and that sometimes, it's time to move on with your life.
I know that there are a few things that we sometimes "fib" about or we stretch the truth so that people don't get their feelings hurt, but flat out lying is a problem and totally not necessary. I guess what I'm saying about all of this is that I know I shouldn't be scared about future relationships or marriage if it ever comes to that, but that it's totally OK to be cautious. [Watch Catfish or just open your eyes]... some people aren't really who they say they are. Now, I'm not saying that you should go into every relationship not trusting the other person because I'm a firm believe that everyone deserves a chance. As long as you are being honest and you clearly state that honesty is number one for you in any relationship, then all you can do is trust your gut and keep working toward building your relationship.
I remember around this time last year when my new-ish 16 year old niece made up a lie that I caught her in. She called crying and apologized and I flat out said "I think it's funny that you think I'm dumb. Just so you know, I don't do liars." From there on out, I feel like we've had a pretty open and trusting relationship. Now, I'm not saying that she hasn't lied to other people since that day, (she's a teenager) or that it didn't take a while for her to gain that trust back with me, but I basically let her know, "if you care about me, don't lie to me." It was just a step in getting to know someone and their expectations when it comes to love and relationships. [Speaking of which, contrary to many people's beliefs around here, I believe that getting to know someone takes more than a few weeks. I honestly don't care what you think about that one... it takes time.]
SO.. crappy things will continue happening to the people around us, and we will decide if we choose to learn from it all and how we handle our own situations as they come. But if we can just start being honest with ourselves and others, it starts there. Just communicate, people!
Yes, I might be scared a little when it comes to relationships but I plan on not living my life in fear of getting hurt. (I'll try). But you better believe that I choose to be cautious when it comes to my relationships and those people that I'm close with in my life right now.
So to wrap up this random post about honestly, relationships and other crappy things that are inevitable.. my notes to myself are this when it comes to any kind of relationship:
Be honest. (yes, that means don't lie).
Cautiously give everyone a chance.
Don't be TOO afraid of getting hurt.
Be Smart, never desperate.
Take time to really get to know someone, you won't regret it.
Unless you think the world is really ending in a few weeks..Slow the EFF dowwwn!!!
and remember, things will get better.
They have too.

25 things
I read an article earlier this year that I really liked by a journalist who posted about 25 things she knows now that she's 25.
Here's my attempt:)
1.) Family comes first. I would honestly do anything for my family and I know they would do the same for me. It's such a blessing to know that no matter where I move, or whatever life change I go through, I always have a set group of people who understand me and will cheer me on... FOREVER. Eternity, actually ;)
2.) Life is too short to pretend to be something you're not. You can waste so much time trying to fool yourself and others into believing that you're something other than who you really are...it might work for a while, but most people can see through your bull. So don't pretend to be a certain way to fit in with people.
3.) It's good to be friendly and kind, BUT you don't have to be friends with everyone. Fact is, you won't have a lot of things in common with every single person you meet. If someone crosses you, or you don't click with someone, or they just have too much drama then it's not a big deal. Distance yourself. You don't have to be rude to them, but you don't have to pretend that you're best friends.. One of the best things I've loved about getting older is that you don't have to worry about having someone to sit with in the cafeteria for lunch. So choose the friends you want..one's who don't even make you think twice about being something that you're not.
4.) Taking 10 minutes to clear your head and breathe every so often can save your sanity. One of my favorite, most relaxing things I've learned to do is to lay on the floor, stretch out my arms way above my head and just stare at the ceiling and breathe. It's fab.
5.) You might think you're protecting yourself from heartbreak and disappointment when you hold in your feelings and emotions, but I've learned that it's so much easier just to say how you really feel about whatever the situation is. Sometimes I just blurt it out, which might be annoying. Good thing my family and friends "get" me. But no matter what, even if you don't get the response or outcome that you were hoping for, at least you know and you can pick up and move on. I've saved myself from a lot of wasted time just because I've learned to open my mouth and say how I feel.
6.) Everything isn't as dramatic as it really seems at first. You can go ahead and blow things out of proportion for a minute, but I've learned to take a step back and be like, "Ok, I was overreacting."
7.) Not everything you do is the right thing for everyone else. One of the biggest things I've learned over the last couple of years is that there are SO many good people in this world and just because someone has a different faith or loves differently than you, doesn't make them a bad person. I know we shouldn't judge at all, but we can at least try not to judge people for WHO they are as a person in general.
8.) Never think you have to have it all figured out "right now" because that will never happen. There will always be some other step to take and some kind of decision to make.
9.) Let yourself be happy. Recently I've realized how hard I can be on myself. Yes, it's important to push yourself and to be driven to do great things with your life, but it is equally important to give yourself a break.
10.) If you want people to be straight up with you, you have to be straight up with them!
11.) Be smart with your money. I don't know how many people I have watched become bitter and miserable because of their money problems. I know that it's a real issue and it can be tough out there, I get it... but work hard, set a budget and spend wisely.
12.) It's OK, not to be "busy" all the time. Some of my favorite nights are spent ALONE on the couch catching up on my DVR. [Bra-less of course.]
13.) I would be a mess without my faith in God and my Savior. [like, a nightmare.] I might not be the most righteous woman with all of the qualities the Priesthood holders in the church are looking for but I have a simple testimony that I would be lost without.
14.) Sometimes a girl just needs some popcorn or licorice, k?!
15.) I can do hard things. I think that sometimes I don't give myself enough credit, but I look back at some of the things I have accomplished in my life and actually kind of amaze myself. I just think it's so easy to get comfortable in a place in life that we forget that we should be pushing ourselves or we think that we can't do it because it's been so long that we've tried to shoot for something better for ourselves. Really, we had the capability to do it all along, we just forgot!
16.) Write things down. If your brain is anything like mine, then you forget some of the little details of things that happen in your life. I find it fun to go through little notes in my journal (which is basically little pieces here and there because I was NOT good at a journal for very long) but especially on my blog. Without it, I wouldn't remember details...and sometimes, the best moments are in the little details.
17.) Sometimes you lose and sometimes you lose some more. Let's face it, we can go through some weeks, months or years where things just seem to keep going wrong. It's never usually just one bad thing that happens..it comes in two's, three's or more. But the best thing about it is knowing that things can't stay crappy forever. It has to get better at some point. I've learned that is what gets me through most of my "losing streaks." "It has to get better!" So I just put on my work boot and (sometimes fake) smile and look forward to the morning when I can wake up and that other stuff just doesn't matter anymore.
18.) To go along with 17.. just because you feel like you are losing, that doesn't mean you get to sit around and whine. Sure, take time to cry/mourn or whatever you've got to do... but you still have to live your life because it won't get better until you are trying. So dust off and be sure to write down or take mental notes of the things you learned from it. Who knows, something like that could happen again, so while you're here on this Earth and already going through stuff, you might as well be learning the lessons God is wanting you to learn.. You know, in case you need it again ;)
19.) Life isn't all about who you're dating or whether or not you are "IN" love. I love, love so don't tell me that I don't understand because I've never been in a real relationship. I get it; Love is great. So if you are in love, I applaud you. But just because you are in love or married or in a relationship, that doesn't mean that everyone else who isn't is miserable. {although, I know a lot of people who are.} Whatever your situation, just make the most out of it and don't assume that everyone wants the same things you do.
20.) Best Friends are people who stay in contact even when you are far away. If you really care about someone, give them a call or send them a text every once and a while just to let them know that you are thinking about them. Simply seeing their Facebook updates everyday doesn't count as "staying in contact." Make an effort.
21.) There's nothing like getting a real hand written letter/note. I'm not kidding. It's kind of a lost art and it makes me sad. I think that's why I loved writing my missionary friends so much. Yes, it takes more time then sending a text, email or tweet but a hand written note, letter or card is where it's at! If I start doing that, don't think I'm weird, k?
22.) It's OK to admit that you have a problem and need help or someone to talk to. In fact, one of the best feelings in the world is having someone who knows you so well that even though you are smiling, they know something is wrong. Find those people and keep them around!
23.) Never stop learning. Last week I pulled up a placement test online that had some general math problems on them. I knew most of them but I found myself going through some of the things and thinking "HOW did I graduate HS/College with almost a 4.0?" I kid you not. I ended up staying up late working on them because I was so bugged that I had forgotten how to do some of those simple math problems. It was ridiculous. I always try to stay caught up on news and other pop culture things, but find something that you enjoy doing even when you aren't in school that keeps that brain going!
24.) In the words of JB, "The grass aint always greener on the other side, it's green where you water it." hahaha. for real though. Count your blessings and make the most out of what you have. This is your life. If you want something, work hard and make it happen!
25.) You can't stop the fact that you are getting older by the minute. Sure, you can get botox and any other surgery that will make you feel younger, but you're getting older all the time; Don't waste your time. Work towards figuring out what you love and do it and above all, don't take for granted the time you have on this Earth and the people who are here to share it with you.
Oh yeah, HBD to meeee :) Woo.Hoo.
As Neiko would say.. anyone wanna play Bingo and invest in a Jazzy? *insert gma emoji*

I know, it's Wednesday.
Last night, as I was getting heated up with a couple of friends about failed marriages, engagements, relationships and people just being liars, I blurted out, "I need to blog about this!" Normally, that just means that I'm super passionate about the topic at the time, heartbroken, confused or just bothered about the situation. It might have been all the Midol I'd taken last night or the fact that I'm turning 25 tomorrow, but I was just getting so upset about all the things we were hearing about people and all the crap that just goes on in people's lives. It's just sad, that's all.
Of course, Nieko quickly reminded me that I couldn't blog about it because tomorrow (tomorrow being today, of course) was Wednesday.
Quote day.
I'll spare you the boring excuses... I hardly wrote anything down. So I will just apologize and you can sit and poke fun at me about my age like Nieko does. See for yourself:
..and these are just the Twitter jabs and only the ones from NIEKO. Don't worry, the others play along sometimes too. I will honestly be surprised if they don't show up to my house tomorrow night wearing all black as if they were mourning my life slowly coming to a sad and unfulfilled end. hahaha.
I wish I was kidding.
Yes, it's happening; I'm turning 25. But all jokes and dramatic fits aside, I know it's not "really" old, I'm just surrounded by a lot of Babies. Did you hear that, friends? You're all BABIES. *insert sheer envy of their youth. see--there I go again.
Alright, I just like to have fun with it:)
So I only have a couple of things people said today that made me laugh/smile aside from the twitter jabs above, so here you go!
"Tu-Tee."
-mason
I know you probably just read that and was like, "Oh cute, he said Turkey because it was Thanksgiving." No. Tur-Tee is how he says "Thank you." hahaha. it's the cutest thing. He's at the stage where he's learning his manners and he's actually really good at it! He will say please if he wants something, he will sometimes say "Bless me" if someone else sneezes, burps, coughs or toots (also, the best thing ever) but when you say, "Mason, say Thank you" He immediately responds with "Tur-Tee." hahaha. Sometimes he would even go up to the candy dish, hold out his hand and say "tur-tee" because he wanted some. I love it. Kids are the best.
"Those should be called Hot-A burritos."
-dad talking about the flaming DORITOS that we got. (He got a little confused) Burrito, Dorito, whatevs. Then cole immediately responded with:
"You're a Vagina." -Cole
yes, I know I shouldn't write down things like this, but if I were to edit that, it really would give you a little insight into how real we are. Here's the thing, what kid/adult male calls their Dad that!? haha Granted, he was being a little baby about how hot they were. Yes, they were hot, but he was being dramatic. I.was.dying. The best part of it all was that everyone kind of looked at each other like, "what just happened?" and then we all laughed and carried on the inappropriate yet ridiculously funny conversation.
"These olives are weird." -Amanda
"Yeah..I thought so too but didn't want to say anything." -me
"yeah... I'm gunna eat it." -Amanda
hahaha. It was just so funny because she was so serious about how weird it tasted but how she was just going to eat it anyways. It's one of those things that didn't need to be said out loud and it totally wasn't meant to be taken as a joke. She legit was just like "meh, I'm going to eat it anyways." But let's get real...they were gross. #amandadon'tcare #shewilleatortakeashotofanything
"His name is Dave Thomas."
-Coworker talking about a new guy she met
"Um, as in the founder of Wendy's? ...BAHAHAHAHAHA."
-me.
Did that ^ give you a good idea of how hard I laughed? I guess it probably wasn't THAT funny. But I've just been watching a lot of MTV's new TV show "Catfish" that is all about online dating so I immediately pictured someone stealing his identity or something or claiming to be his son and the heir to the Wendy's fortune. It could honestly happen. Just watch the show, there are crazy people out there. But don't worry, that wasn't really his name... she just got confused for a minute.
"No..."
"No.."
"Ok, ok."
-Jrrrrd
Just little pieces of a conversation N and E and I had with little J. Lesson 1-We know things so no need to lie :)

Thanksgiving and the time grandma had a dream about my future.
I realized that I didn't do a post about what I was thankful for on Thanksgiving day. When I come home I always seem to be non-stop busy. From visiting family and friends, shopping, eating out, playing with mason, going to the movies, putting up the Christmas tree..Did I mention playing with Mason??...Well, we do it all. I just seem to be busy during the entire time I'm home and I really do love it.
To say that this trip home was good would be an understatement. I just love my family. In fact, they are all the first things on my list of things to be thankful for. Sure, we have our problems/issues (what family doesn't) but I love my family. As I get older I realize more and more each time I come home about how much I have to be thankful for. I think it's easy to get caught up in all these things we want and how we wish our life was, but when we actually stop and take a look at what we do have, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude.
I'm thankful for a dad who works so hard for his family, is not lazy and would do anything for us. A Father who might not like his job, but, does what he has to do. I'm thankful for a mom who loves us more than ANYTHING in this world and would do anything for us. She's the kind of mom where if you say you like something she has, she gives it to you. I'm not saying that I'm thankful just because I love her stuff that she gives me, but that's just the kind of mom she is. She would do/already does EVERYTHING for Jamie, Cole and I. I'm also thankful that I'm able to see my parents be grandparents to Mason. If I ever have any kids, they will be the luckiest because of the grandparents they will have. Mason adores them.
I'm thankful for my siblings. Sure, they joke around that I'm the adopted one, even at Thanksgiving dinner, but I know they love me. I mean they should...I'm pretty awesome. I'm also thankful that I am an Aunt. I haven't been one for very long, but it's basically they best thing ever. If you could just see that Mason boy. He does this thing sometimes where he opens his eyes really big, scrunches his face and kind of shakes as if he is mad (but he's not) and grabs my face (putting one hand on each cheek) and then gives me kisses. You guys, it's my favorite thing ever. Well, and I love his hugs and the fact that he's pretty much the cutest baby in the world. Haha. yeah, you get it,.. I love the kid. I just wish he would say "Jenn" or something. He's said "Nenn" a few times. But that's about it. And I have to BEG to even get that. Don't worry that he sees anyone else in the family walk in the door and he says their name...even all three of the dogs. Yeah, I'm bitter about it a little, whatevs. haha. But he always comes to me because I'm fun! HA.
Aside from my family, I'm thankful for friends who live close to me and friends far away who I still keep in contact with often. Even though I sometimes really don't like living 5 hours away from my family, it's always comforting to me to know that I have a family of friends away from home. I remember around this time a couple of years ago and I honestly didn't think that this would ever get better or that I would meet people that I really click with. But I forced myself to get out and do what I knew I could do all along--be friendly with people. It's nice to know that no matter where I end up going or as friends come and go, that I have this way of getting to know people and making friends and connecting with them. It's kind of a blessing and a curse of how much I love the people I meet but I'm thankful for my ability to form great friendships.
I can think of a billion other things that I'm thankful besides the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the people that I have been blessed with in my life..Like my job, my apartment, a running car, and the fact that I literally have all the things that I need and never really have to go without... but I won't bore you with all of that. I'm honestly just thankful to be me. Sure, there are some things I need to work on, but I will save that one for a New Year's post. Oh, while I'm talking about it, I'm really thankful for this last year and all the things that I've gone through that have helped me learned about strengths and my weaknesses. .....Yeah, I just said I was thankful for trials ;) it happens.
I just can't believe how fast time is going. Thanksgiving break is over which means Cole and I have to head back to Utah today, which means our birthdays are only days away and in a few weeks we will be right back for Christmas. I don't want to go, but it's comforting to know that we will see them in just a few weeks. Ugh. If someone could just tell mason not to do anything cute while I'm gone, or get any bigger, that would be great. Oh yeah, everything he does is cute. Dang it! Even when he made a huge mess with his food at Thanksgiving dinner, wore his plate like a hat, and stuck cranberry sauce to the side of his face...it was the cutest thing ever. And I don't like messes. haha. Love that baby. Love my family. Love coming home. ...now, if only I could get a private jet because I'll tell you what I don't love--the 4.5 hour drive. Could be worse I guess.
So back to Utah we come! Time to put away all these birthday gifts and the TONS of dishes grandma Hansen is sending me home with. Don't worry, she told me that she "hasn't lost hope" for me "yet" about getting married. So she gave me this 50 piece set of super old dishes that she's been saving for me for when I get married. Umm.. I feel like her giving me the dishes is like saying she's lost hope. haha whatever.. She has good intentions. Plus, she said she had a dream last week that I got married. her exact words: "I had a dream you got married last night. He had a kid..I'm not sure if it was a daughter or son but it looked like this was in the future." BAHAHA we laughed about this all weekend. Well, the family laughed while I silently cried. kidding! In the future?! haha. of course it is. Don't know if you noticed or not, but I don't have a BF or anything. hahaha. It think she just meant further in the future. humph. I should have asked her if I looked super old in the dream or something or if the dude was just old.. Whatever it was, as long as I don't have wrinkles or anything and the kid wasn't like super old then I'm OK with that. I just wish she could have hooked a sister up. It's like, if this is legit revelation from Heaven, Grandma, can't you at least give me a hint? Like, what's his name, what does he look like, what are his digits? haha totally kidding. But, good times with grandma. Maybe there is hope after all. Until, then.. I will enjoy by pitty wedding dishes! xoxo
I feel like the Lion from Wizard of Oz.. you know, before he got his Courage.
You're probably going to think I'm lame, but I just went back and read some of my own blogs from this time last year. After reading some of the posts I decided a couple things:
1- Hands down, I was a better blogger last year. That was before I decided that I didn't want to do it as much because everyone was blogging, I was tired of putting so much thought into my posts and, at the time, I didn't just want to be "another blog" that was blowing up everyone's FB feed. So, I decided to stop posting them on FB and well, I still posted but I guess I just stopped putting as much thought into them.
2-As I read through the old posts that had meaning, I loved it. I loved that it really took me back to those exact times and that I was able to remember the details because I had taken the time to write them down. Yes, aside from some hand written notes from church and some other things, this has become my virtual journal.
3-I've changed a lot since last year. I can almost feel it as I read the words that I typed in those older posts. I'm not quite sure if I love all of the changes. Actually, I know I don't. So...I'll be working on that.
I guess that's just how life goes; We change. I've blogged about that a lot but that's just because it happens all the time. In fact, it happens everyday. I guess the important part is making sure that we make good decisions, figure out who we are and what we want from life, learn from our mistakes, and try to pull our crap together.
I had a talk with a good friend about a week ago. I can't tell you exactly what we talked about because I promised I would keep it a secret for now (you know how much I love secrets). But, in that one conversation, I was able to talk about change, which is a topic that I tend to avoid sometimes when I know it's going to be hard.
This friend told me about what they are going through right now and how they had made some pretty big life decisions. Immediately, I got a little jealous. I was jealous that they had courage, that they had made this decision and weren't looking back, that they were so happy, and jealous/upset that they were making such a good change in their life; something I've been trying to figure out/do for a while now. Of course Jealousy is never really a good thing, but at that time, as we were sitting there chatting, after I got over how things would probably change for me with this person's decision, the jealousy that I felt for a few minutes turned into motivation.
Hopefully it's not just me, but there are some things in life that we know we need to do or change but we just can't get ourselves to do it because we lack courage or faith. Even though we can sometimes find ourselves miserable and feeling like we haven't reached our potential, we don't want to do the things that deep down we know we need to do because it's either toohard, or we know that we will lose something or someone in the process.
...But if we know what we need to be doing, even if it is hard at first and will change some things, I think we all know that it will be worth it.
Every decision we make effects our future. I would just hate to be the one who didn't have courage and make certain changes simply because I was lazy and afraid.
I guess I can take the lesson I learned from my friend, and that lion on Wizard of Oz. Instead of pushing aside certain things, we just need to have a little courage...and with that, Faith that things will work out!
..Oh, and I'll be trying to put a little more thought into my posts. Not for anyone else, but for ME so that I can go back and remember exactly where I was, what I learned and how I felt.
Amazing what blogging (Virtual journaling;)) can do for you!

Wednesday
"If we get delayed, I would just die....OK, not actually die; that's a little dramatic." -Me to Amy waiting in line to board the plane.
"Well, at least you realize that!" -Random guy behind us in line
random people even call me out on it. It's like, really?! rude.
"There are two malls. The upscale international plaza and then the other mall which is still nice and will have some stores that she will like too."
-Hotel Worker at the Wyndham
We were getting ready to go out and go shopping or do something fun, so I asked one of the ladies that worked at the hotel about the malls around the area. I'm not really sure what she meant by that...haha. It's probably my acting skills or something, or the fact that I actually got ready and dressed cute that day. Or she just thought I was all fancy or something because I said we were there on business. Guess my AE Black skinnies, fake designer earrings, and my Forever 21 chunky sweater fooled her. Get real, lady! Whatevs. But really, that mall was nice and had a great mix of normal stores and those stores you feel embarrassed even stepping foot into. You feel me? good times.
*read this in your worst/thickest german-esque accent*
"I (g)hate when it do dat."
-Crazy lady worker at the Tourist shop
The best part was that she noticed that it looked like my blinged out iphone was falling out of my front pocket (you know, the shallow AE pockets) so she came up behind me and without saying anything touched my phone IN MY FRONT POCKET and tried to shove it further into my pocket with two pushes. You guys, This was a nightmare. At first I thought she was reaching into my purse, then I thought she was going to steal something or touch my lady area. I mean, I had talked to her long enough and made friendly with her already so I knew she was crazy.. and I feed off crazy. So anyways, then she said this ^^ and I knew what she was trying to do. I was scared for a second. Who does that? Oh yeah, crazy pants souvenir shop ladies who wear puffy down winter coats when it's 75 degrees outside. Right. got it.
"What's your deal?" -Jamie
"Can't I be happy?" -Me
"No. It's too early." -Jamie
Silly Sister. Doesn't she know that I'm a morning person and I just like to have a good time even at 7:30 AM?!
"Do you have a wee wee?"
-Nadine's grandson who is just past the potty trained stage.
"No, girls don't have one."
-Nadine, I'm sure trying not to laugh.
"Well, did you cut it off or did it fall off?"
-funny child
The best part was that Nadine told my mom that he was so serious about it. HAHAHA kids are the best. I would have been dying laughing. I can't wait for Mason to say funny things like this!
"It's OK..*insert sad face* I'm the first girl in the world..."
-Kiersten sad sadly after Nieko convinced her that she could be the first girl in the world to put out the flame of a candle by smothering it with her bare hand.
You guys, this was the best. I don't like pain so I, of course, never tried this "game." Apparently they like their hand to get burnt. Whatevs. Nieko and Cole have both done it and for some reason Kier was easily convinced that she would be "the first girl in the world" if she did it too. She did it and she looked like she was going to cry. I don't blame her. OUCH. But she did this half smile/cry thing and said "I'm the first girl in the world." haha it was the best.
"We don't have those anymore, sorry."
-DQ worker in response to my question about Pumpkin Pie Blizzards.
Alright, I didn't want to even get started about this one. BUT I don't care if you like Pumpkin or not, these blizzards are good. Well, APPARENTLY they only have those in October. I wanted to be like, "what kind of joke is this?" I mean, really...THINK about it. Sure, pumpkins are a Halloween/Harvest thing, I get it. But pumpkin pie is totally a November/Thanksgiving thing. DQ, you need to check yourself. We are in November and a week out from Thanksgiving and you don't have Pumpkin Pie Blizzards? What a good trick. I'm mostly just mad that Kiersten didn't even get to try one after I talked them up so much. Devastation swept the room as I revealed the sad news.

Work Trip, Snow and Positive Energy.
For the last few days, I haven't been able to stop thinking about how fast November has just flown.. It's blowing my mind right now. I predicted that it would fly, but still--Wow! I mean, I go home for Thanksgiving in exactly one week from today.
Thanksgiving, people!
I guess that what happens when the holidays approach because there is just so much going on! I love it. I honestly can't think about how close we to getting to go home because I'm so excited I could just burst.
So for this next week I will just try to continue keeping busy like I've been doing.
Anywho. Here's a little Update:
Last week I went to Florida for a business trip. My coworker and I were able to pick a location of one of our events to attend before the year was up. Since things had been so crazy at work, we kind of pushed the whole thing aside and waited until October to pick a place, which left our options of places to attend a little limited. Texas, North Dakota, Georgia, ...Tampa. OK, yeah, we'll take Florida. Sure, we weren't excited about the long flight but we were just excited to see the sun and enjoy a little warmth.
The trip was only three days with travel so we really didn't get to go and do a lot. I'd been to Florida once before so it didn't really bother me. I knew that I LOVED the trees there [They are seriously fabulous. It's the perfect mixture of Palms and swampy/moss looking trees, which I love both of!] so just driving around and taking it all in was really nice. We also did a lot of eating out, went to the huge International Plaza mall (which I was totally impressed with) and then ventured over to Clearwater Beach on Friday morning/afternoon to explore. Aside from the weather being gorgeous, I just couldn't get over the fine, soft, white sand.
A beyond beautiful view:
These were all taken on friday morning/afternoon^^^ Beautiful, right? Well, we had to board the plane that night and landed in Salt Lake City to this:
Not only was I wearing my Moccasins, which are not the best shoes in the weather, but I didn't have a snow brush/scraper in my car yet. Totally not prepared. boo. I was ready to get back on the plane and head back at that point. Snow and I really just aren't best friends. However, I am grateful that have snow here during the holidays because I can't imagine living in Florida where it's warmish and singing Christmas songs. Um. yeah, that doesn't work for me. Maybe when I'm old?
Oh yeah, don't worry. We did some work while we were over there too. If you even call it work. We attended one of the FranklinCovey seminars that we help plan the logistics for everyday, all over the country. It was cool to see how it all comes together in the end and to know that none of it could work without the things that we do to make it happen. I guess it was just one of those times when you're like. "wow. What I do really does matter." So that was neat.
I also was able to make some goals of things that I want to do better in my life and with my roles as a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and citizen. [Yes, I'm a sucker for those self-help things:)]
Aside from the work trip last week, everything is going pretty OK. I'm almost done with my Christmas Shopping (YAY Me, YAY online shopping), I'm feeling pretty organized with certain things, I'm super happy for a few people in my life who are making some huge steps, and overall I'm starting to feel a little more comfort with some of the things that have been bothering lately. Honestly, I woke up this morning and on the drive to work was just overwhelmed with how much I have to be grateful for.
..We just won't talk about the super "slow" dental assistant this morning who couldn't get the X-ray taken properly while FINALLY putting on my permanent crown, poked my un-numb gums, and talked like she's been living out of the country for the last 10 years even though you know she was probably lived her for forever..
I digress.
Here's to positive energy, deep breaths, and having things to look forward too :)

Wednesday Catch-Up
So I'm sure some of you noticed that I missed my Wednesday post last week. Forgive me. Things got crazy and I didn't feel like it....Anyways, tomorrow morning I head out for Tampa so I figured there is no way I could miss ANOTHER week so I will post this one early :) These are honestly just jumbled up notes from the last two weeks. Merry Christmas:
"I just pictured you with short hair and it was ugly."
-Nieko to Liz
The best part is that no one was talking about liz getting a hair cut. Come to think of it, we weren't talking about liz or haircuts at all. haha.
"Have you ever pulled someone around the floor on a blanket? You should pull me."
-Liz
I'm not sure who she thinks I am. First she insults me by questioning if I know how to have a good time and then she wants me to be her slave. umm. no.
"Why are you a cat?" -Snooty little girl who came trick-or-treating to my desk on Halloween.
"Well, why are you a princess?" -me
honestly child. Where are you parents? Take some candy and get steppin'.
"Is that a ring on your wedding finger?" -Kid in the ward
"Ohhh no. I'm not engaged to be married, if that's what you mean!" -Me
"YESSSSSSS" -Same kid as he enthusiastically thrust his fists in the air.
Come to think of it.. I'm not sure if he was being sarcastic. Nevertheless...weird.
"I hate pants." -Sam
"You know what I hate?"-Me
"Complainers?" -Sam
I guess when you become roommates you gain special powers to read each other's minds. No.. that's not right, is it? Well, Sam knew EXACTLY what I was thinking that time. Fact. I do get annoyed by excessive complaining and, quite frankly, I don't care for pants either.
"You get tortured for two hours a night? Is that part of this online dating thing you're a part of now?"
-Boss to Coworker
She was really talking about going to work out with her personal trainer but he took it totally wrong. Best part is that he was just a bishop. HAHA. I couldn't stop laughing.
"How about I make you some hard {A} brownies and break your other arm."
-Corby to Nieko
BAHAHAHAHA. Now, Nieko, I'm not making fun of you, I promise. But when Corby said this over the weekend, Amanda and I couldn't stop laughing. Best story of a broken wrist EVER.
"Did she just say that? She looks like an angel." -Quacee talking about me when we met last week.
"90 % of the time she is." -Chris
I choose to be flattered and look over Chris cheap-shotting me by 10%. Actually.... he totally rounded up. awwww Schucks! #somemenjustgotIT . We'll leave it at that.
"I didn't know she had Alzheimer's, I just thought Ryan Gosling was yelling at her all the time."
-Calvin Calvin talking to me about the Notebook....which he'd never seen.
You guys, this conversation I had with Calvin Calvin at FHE was the best thing of my life. It's not a secret that I love talking with all different kinds of people. Calvin is one of a kind. Just picture a big black kid (and I don't mean to offend anyone by saying that... I just have to let you know where it's coming from, because that makes it even better!) We chatted about all kinds of Chick flicks and omg, I wish I could have gotten more of his one-liners down.
Here are some more:
"Her daughter grew fast!" -Calvin talking about Renesme on Twilight
"She had asthma in new moon, it BUGGED me." -Calvin going off on Kristin Stuart.
"I don't see how people can date people that much younger den-them! Like, what was his OLD butt doing with her?"
-Calvin STILL going off on Kristin Stuart..only about her in real life
Seriously.
I can not.
BAHAHAHAHAH.

Someday maybe I'll know :)
Since we are in the month of November, I've noticed that a crap ton of people are writing about what they are thankful for each day. I'm not going to do that just because I know I'd forget a day or something but I do want to say that this morning I am thankful for so many things but especially my sweet, dear mother.
I've been struggling with some things for a while now and finally wasn't able to keep it in this morning. I got up pretty early and was reading my patriarchal blessing. I decided to call my mother and she just sat there and listened to me cry, whine, and confess the feelings I've been having and what I've been going through as of late. It honestly doesn't matter right now what those things are but I am just grateful for a mother who understands, who loves me for who I am [flaws and all], and who sincerely wants the best for me, even if she was caught off guard by the things I told her.
She is my cheerleader.
{I've thought about how hard it must be to be a mother and today I got a nice glimpse into it as I listened to my mom and felt her heart break for me. She really loves her children more than anything and I can only hope that SOMEDAY I will be able to know that same feeling--to be a mom.}
I talk to my mom everyday so we've had our fair shares of great conversations, but I will remember this one forever. We talked about life, goals, friends, family, prayer, weaknesses, repentance, fasting and trying to align our lives with what we want to become and what the Lord wants us to become. (of course that was the lesson in Relief Society as well...how can you not believe in the power of prayer?!)
She was able to make me see that I've known what I need to do all along, that I'm not a bad person, nor irrational...and that I am the person responsible for making my life the best that it can be and that I just need to trust myself and rely on the Lord.
She's right.
To my mother and all the other great mother's out there--Thank you for the special love you have for your children and for understanding that we aren't perfect but for still having a perfect love for us.
To those of us who aren't mother's yet--Take notes. Get your pom pom's ready :)

Halloween is dunzo. Now onto November.
I just love Halloween! I especially loved this year because I got to help out my favorite little man's costume. Naturally, I picked something original--A turkey! I knew Mason would be adorable in anything Jamie and James put him in but a turkey?! Omg. Just when you think the kid can't get any cuter he goes and looks like THIS:

| Probably my favorite picture of my Dad and Mason. Can't you just see how much he loves that child? presh. |

Anyways, as for me and the friendlies, we decided to have a "Dance your Mask Off" Halloween party last night in Jared's graffiti-ed basement. Not very many people actually wore masks, but you get the humor that was intended with my making of the party name;)
OMG, speaking of Masks...Anyone who was there saw the guy that showed up wearing the Mask and head-to-toe black gown thing. Anyways, this guy creeped around the dance area (BY HIMSELF) for a good 10-20 minutes and now looking back, I don't know what happened too him after that. He came up to me and pinned me up against the wall (FOR REALS) and after being creeped out at first I was like, "Seriously, who are you?" and he proceeded to get real close to my face and through his mask proceeded to say some mumbo jumbo that I can't remember because it was muffled by the mask.. but I remember it being creepy. You'd think at that point he would finally reveal who he was, right? Nope. He didn't. He just walked away and I forgot about him. And now that I'm thinking about it today, I'm even more creeped out and curious to know who it was. You guys, basically It was the perfect plot to a horror film. Guy shows up, identity concealed behind the mask, creeps around, lures his victim and murders them. Slasher movie--done and done. NIGHTMARE.
All around, it was fun. We dressed up, danced, and had a pretty good time! ...even if I had to spent a little bit of my time trying to ignore this kid that kept following me around.
Best of all--After an entire year of teasing Liz of being Esther from the movie, "the Orphan" we finally got her to dress up and get into character. Yep. She did a good job. Spooky, for sure.
Highlight--Our friend Jess (The little muchacho int he middle) surprised us by coming down from Logan. I wish she could have stayed longer but I was just happy to see her face for a minute!
ohh yes, Halloween is always a good time. I just really don't love Halloween falling right in the middle of the week; It's super rude. I was in bed before 1am and I still look like I stepped right out of an Episode of the Walking Dead and creeped right on to work. Whatevs.
Hello November!
