keeping it random

Remember how I'm random? Oh yeah..

I decided to stop following my Real Housewives gossip stuff on Twitter.  I found that their tweets were crowding my feed and guess.what?  I was skipping over them. Yes. I, Jennifer Hansen, was skimming over them.  That's a huge deal for me!  I actually feel kind of accomplished.  I guess that's what happens when you go without Bravo for a month.  I'll admit that I was sad to be losing the channel but part of me has been wanting that for sometime.  I mean, at least I still have 'E', right?!

We Redboxed the movie 'Silent House' the other night.  You know, that one with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's younger, not as pretty, sister?  yeah, that one.  Well, I actually liked it.  It was weird, sick, twisted, and little creepy.  [you know how I do.]  Yes, it was rated R.  And I would tell you why I think it's rated R (because, let's get real, it only says on F Word in it) but I can't tell you because that would ruin it.  (Oh great, that made me sound like a freak.) But honestly, you wouldn't even think it was Rated R and I don't say that about many movies aside from War ones....Rent it, don't rent it.  I don't care. Moving on.

I woke up with a baby sore throat yesterday morning.  I thought it would be a one day thing.  Yeah, no.  I still have it. ummm. fml. All I have to say is that it better be better in a week from today because I REFUSE to be sick for this family trip that has been planned for months.

Once again I've found myself questioning what is normal.  Not because I think that I'm not  normal or that I really care but isn't the idea of "normalcy" a mind blowing topic to anyone else? I mean, I honestly don't care what people really think but sometimes I wonder, Am I normal or is everyone else normal and I'm the weird one and no one is telling me? Meh.  Sometimes my mind gets carried away.  But honestly, after doing ChatRoullete the other night with a couple of friends I've realized that I HAVE to be the normal one in the world.  haha. jk. But really, there are a lot of sick freaks out there.  Not that I'm judging or whatever.. ;) (but really, don't get on there..)

I've always said that me and  elderly folk" don't mix.  So I was called to the Activities committee in my new ward last week and for our activity we went to an Assisted Living Center last night to visit with some of the residents this week.  I think I understand why I said that we don't mix for so many years.  Plain and simple, I get attached to people way too easily.  I mean, you go, you meet a cute little 97 year old lady by the name Iona, you talk, she laughs and thinks are are the cutest, funniest girl and then... she dies.  Yes, that's me being dramatic and she really didn't die but it's true.  I just don't think I'm cut out for the death thing yet.   I have my beliefs about what happens after our earthly life and that knowledge is a great blessing but it's not what happens for the people who die that freaks me out.  It's the people left behind.  It's like... omg.. never mind.  Really, the thought of all of it gives me anxiety.  Basically what I'm saying is that I had a great time visiting with them (and making a fool out of myself singing an old girl's camp  song about a banjo because the chairperson didn't have anything planned), but thinking about how old (legit fear #1) and lonely (legit fear #2) they are?...well, I just can't handle it.  It's really just the after part that gets me so worked up.  Clearly.

I  want to try to go back once a month though.  Because, despite the whole over thinking/freaking out thing that I do afterward, I really enjoyed my time with them.  They are so cute and funny!  I will have a few quotes for you on Wednesday :)  And even though some of them probably have people who visit them often, I just can't help but feel heartbroken over the thought that any of them feels alone...It's already enough that they have to be sad about being old!!  There I go, 25 and feeling like I relate to a 97 year old.  I need to get a grip. haha

I'm starting to get excited for our little trip next week.  Not because it's supposed to be the Happiest place on the planet but just because I'm excited to get away and just be with my family for a little bit. If I can kick this cold that is.

So Sav and B are getting married in less than two weeks.  I really can't believe it!  Time just goes by so fast.  I've been working on their slide show and I just can help but tear up.  I just love how in love they are.  It's adorbs.  Honestly, in general, seeing people that I love be in love makes me so happy.

omg.. it's almost 2 and I haven't showered.  (Random enough for you?) kBYE!

Wednesday Up in Hurr. Quotes and a story.

"The thing about best friends is they always know when you aren't telling the truth."
-Alex
hahaha it's true.  But the best thing about having best friends is that they know when to just go with it sometimes :)

"They need one of those parachutes so she doesn't get pregnant."
-Nieko talking about the sponsors during the cave scene of the Hunger Games.
When he said this I totally pictured them turning the movie into a spoof and having the sponsors send loads of inappropriate things.  HA. Can you imagine? Hunger Games turns Trash TV live from the Capitol? funny. (I would watch). But really, while I'm on the topic... as much as I love that movie, am I the only one who wanted the cave scene to be a little more intense?  yeah. Don't lie.

"Do you ever put milk on your porridge and..." -Willy
"Porridge?  ....OK Goldie Locks." -Amanda
hahahaha oh amanda! Porridge? really?! haha.

"That's what I want.  Someone who always does what I want and never.Says.NO."
-Big Ang
At this moment she is referring to her pool boy who looks like he's 17 years old but you know she means that when she's talking about boys in general.  Maybe I should add this to my list that I don't have of requirements for a future husband. It will go right under 1)--"Hot and Tan."  and go as follows: 2- "never says no." oh and 3- "Buys me presents." Yeah... I learn great things from my TV shows. haha jk jk

"How was your Lady Doctor Appointment?" -me
"I wouldn't say it was fun, but it was good." -Sav
hahahaha. I told her I would be a little worried if she thought it was fun.  She agreed.  hahaha. EW. (oh the joys of being a woman)

"Did you see Angels in the Outfield?!  It's like he went to Hogwarts with Neville Longbottom."
-Vicky about Joseph Gordon Leavitt's Hottness
I think this is my favorite of the week.  haha. But I do have to address the following--how can you think that he wasn't a cute little boy in Angels in the Outfield?  Pretty sure, he just grew up and became a man, where as I don't know what in the heck happened with Neville aside from the fact that homeboy totally hit up the Orthodontist and got a gym membership. Now THAT was a transformation.  But all technicalities of the comment aside..she pulled that comment out of nowhere and those are my favorite!. Ohhh Vicky, I've missed you!

"I got my first inappropriate name today..." -Me
"What? Is it, the C word?" -Icky Vicky said with much concern about the topic
hahahaha NO!  OK, so Nieko has basically come up with an inappropriate/funny name for just about everyone in our close group of friends.  However, Nieko and I didn't have one for the longest time because, well.. our names are just too cool for it, I guess.  But apparently people in Australia use the C word a lot because she instantly thought that was my new nickname.  First of all, Rude much?!

oh....so that leads me to the nickname that came to past when I thought that Jared said:
"VaJenna"
turns out he didn't really say that though.  yeah...I should have kept that one to myself.

"I dare you to come beat me up." -Jamie after dissing on Zac Efron
"No." -Jenn
"You know why I dare you?" -Jamie
"So you can see me?!" -me
"YEP."-Jamie
haha. I wish I could just go beat her up/see her whenever I want.  Oh well, 9 more days till our Family Disney trip.  Woot YEAH!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
I will finish with a comment that, at the time, caused me to go to bed ticked off.  The back story?  SOMEBODY let the car run out of gas which caused said car to not start even after we'd put gas in it.  Mind you, Cole hasn't had the best of luck with transportation the last couple of weeks (Canada, anyone?).  So it was about 11 pm and I was trying to google crap and do whatever I can to help but listen, I'm not a mechanic.. Like, at all. ( I mean, I was googling crap, that's how much I know.)  So we were both a little on edge.  Cole started pushing the car by himself out of the spot that was on a little incline.  Of course, that scared me.  I mean, the car was Rolling away. That's kind of a big deal.  So I may have said the shiz word. But like, for real. (yes mom, you taught me better, I'm sorry)  So Cole (super pissed off because he never swears) yelled the following:

"JENN, there's no need to swear for no damn reason."

Like I said, he never swears so yeah, it was a little intense of a situation so I don't blame him but needless to say I was dramatic, and it wasn't funny.  1-don't yell at me 2-I was just trying to help and 3-Do it yourself, then! haha. and then I went upstairs, washed my face and..that is the story of the time I went to bed angry.

yeah, it's really funny now. Only because the car started and I choose to not hold grudges ...for very long.

Trying to find a way to deal.

One of the many things I've learned about myself in the last couple of years is that I don't like putting up with people's crap.  I've wasted too much time on it.  Here are some of the things recently that I can not tolerate.

*When people pretend that there isn't a problem.
*When people make up problems.
*When people feel bad for themselves (more than just occasionally because, let's be honest sometimes we need to go "WAH, Fml." I get that.)
*When people are delusional.
*When people pretend that they are the only people who have "real" problems.
*When people think that ignoring the people they have a problem with will solve their problem.

I could go on.

PEOPLE-- These things ^^ don't get us anywhere.  In fact, they leave us more miserable because sooner or later we are going to have to solve our issues.  If we let them just sit there and wait for another day, they usually get worse and in the meantime can leave problems in the relationships of those that we really care about.

Sometimes I just wish I could shake a few people and say, "WAKE UP! Don't you see that you need to pull it together and just talk it out with the right people instead of complaining to me?"

Don't get me wrong.  I will listen and sympathize with people when they have real issues.  I love to do that because I genuinely care about people in my life and would basically do anything for them. But when it comes to the point that those people aren't doing anything to fix it, or aren't even trying...That's when I have the problem and get annoyed.

I have a lot of things going on recently and I've been trying to work them out.  But you don't see me sitting and crying (ok, maybe crying a little) and hoping that things will just get better.  Yeah. Right. I'd be delusional to think that I can just move on and hope that it will fix itself.  I'm trying to actually do something about them because that it the only way that we can remove the toxic things out of our lives.  (the things that cause us stress or to be unhappy).

Can we just do each other a favor and DEAL?  Stop being delusional and just deal with the crap in our own lives?  And in the meantime, a little word of advice, if I may?  While you're at it, if you think your life is so miserable and that things aren't going right and you find yourself thinking that your life is hell....Stop thinking about just yourself.  Get up and help someone else.  You'll feel better about it and you'll realize that there are people out there who have it way worse than you do.  Some of the best relationships I have in my life are with people who, together, we help each other cope with the craziness of life.  Not in a, "let's sit and complain about it" kind of way but in a, "I just need a little support and push in the right direction so I can fix this."  When you go through things like that with people, (I don't care who you are), you grow this connection with them and you genuinely begin to love more and I am a firm believer that love brings happiness and meaning to life.

Please, just stop the pity parties.  It's a beautiful day! Get up and try to figure out what you can do to get things to go the way you want them to go.  Sure, there will be things that you have no control over, I'm figuring that out more and more each day.  But you can decide how you let those things effect your life.

Life is too short to be miserable over things that we have control over.  So, I guess what I'm saying is..whatever you do, just FIND a way to be happy and then use that to make other people happy.

That's all I ask.

Here's to a good day of dealing with the stress and figuring crap out!
P.S.  It's SUCH a beautiful day already..  mm.. I love the weekend :)

It's Wednesday, B!

Stop.  I know what you're thinking. "Finally! She hasn't done this segment for a couple of weeks because she super SUCKS."  I know, It's bad.  And after a couple of comments and a Tweet asking me what was going on, I decided I needed to make it a goal to pull it together.  I've missed two weeks but with Canada and all the craziness I just haven't had time, or written down much. Maybe I've just been stressed/preoccupied, orrrrrrr people are getting less funny?  jk. I'm surrounded by all sorts of funny.

I will start with the couple I wrote down for the last two weeks but never did the post because I didn't have enough stuff back up a full post.

While I was out :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Does she use 'the C'?"
-Amy's way of asking if a certain girl was being responsible when she meets up with all these men from the online dating website.
Clearly "the C" is short for Condom.  haha. I love that she's married and she totally whispered "the C" as if condom was a bad word or something.  Yes, we were at work so I get it but it totally made my day. That girl is FUNNY!! But, let's get real...I hope the girl we were talking about is using "the C' because you don't know where some of those crazies come from.  I will reference online dating again at the end of this post and you'll see what I mean.

"Nieko, quit making Jenn scream."
-Mary Waite
Mary Waite is Liz's mom.  Not sure why we like calling her by her full name but we all just do it.  A few weeks ago we were having a fire in Liz's backyard and I decided to go into the dark hellish wood shed that they have back there.  Of course Nieko came up and pounded on the side of the shed and I got scared.  I will stick with my argument and say that I wasn't being dramatic when I let out that blood curdling scream.  But it was midnight, and their house is surrounded by neighbors so Mary Waite was only looking out for them but when she came out and said that ^^^... we laughed pretty hard even though we know she didn't mean anything by it.  I guess @Mindblown put it straight when they tweeted the other day that "69% of all people find something dirty in every sentence."
[see what I mean?]

"Why are you walking like a gimp?"
-Nieko to my friend Mandy who unfortunately has Rheumatoid Arthritis.
hahaha. The only reason why we can laugh about this so hard is that it's Mandy, and she's basically the best person I know so of course she died laughing too.  Nieko is just one of those people that if he thinks it then he usually just says it.  He wasn't meaning it to be rude, he was just hoping for some good story about how she tripped and hurt her leg or something like that. Nope.  I had to tell him that she is 25 and has a pretty bad disease.  I'm just so glad we could turn the serious issue into a funny situation.  I've never seen Nieko so embarrassed.  Best. thing. Ever.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, back on track to this past week (don't mind the fact that I'm still trying to remember to write things down again)

"Cute purple hair."
-Coworker complimenting another coworker.
This would be fine if it was said to some teenager or Katy Perry, but this lady is 60 or so (a grandma) and has legit purple hair all over.  The whole thing is awkward at best. At first I thought it was a mistake and she just came into work thinking that she would go for an appointment after work to get it fixed or something.  nope.  It's like over a month later and her hair is still purple.  Not OK. It's just one of those moments where you see it and you're shocked so you compliment it but deep down you're like Regina George in Mean Girls and are really thinking "Thatistheugliesteffingthingi'veeverseen."

don't lie.  You've done it.

"Is there a moon in this country?"
-Snooki about the moon in Mexico.
*crickets*  Nope.  There is a different moon for every country but guess what.. the Mexicans don't get one.  Duh.

"ARE YOU A WHORE?!?!"
-Jared to Jessica after she bit him on the shoulder.
Imagine him yelling this in the tent of our YSA camping trip.  Like, instantly after the bite all loud and upset. I couldn't stop laughing.  First of all, most people would just say, "YOU WHORE!" after something like that happened, but nope, Jared asked her if she was one.  I think that was the best part of it.  That, and I don't get her thing with biting but she did it a few times. hahaha. poor jared. WAH.

"Have you seen the preview for the new Halla Berry movie?"
-Willy
UGH.  If only you could really hear the way he said it.  He wasn't joking because he said it like that twice...even AFTER we made fun of him for doing it.  Oh 'Willa'.  It was so funny that I couldn't even concentrate on what he was saying about the HallaBerry Movie. haha. I mean, Halle.Berry.

"A guy has to have three things.  1.) know how to dance. 2.) have a hot body and 3.) dress well"
-Liz.. and then I added the #3 in there before she could get to it.
Sure, we were watching Step Up 4 when we made this list but let's get real.  Those men?  Smokin' hot!  One of the main guys even looks like Frodo Baggins a little and because of his hot bod, dance skills, and homeboy clothes/ways (totally does it for me), I just couldn't get enough of him.  MMMM MMMM BABY :) Maybe a little unrealistic of expectations of what an ideal guy has to be like.  But at that moment, in the theater last night, that list was legit. NO GRAY areas.

Give me a couple days and I'll get over it.

"Blah Blah Blah, Let's have dirty sex."
-user Alex24r to my coworker on the dating site, 'Plenty of Fish' [for those of you who are interested]
check it.  I know that ^ may seem a little inappropriate to post on the blog to some of you but I DIED laughing at it because that is the crap that a lot of these guys are after on some of these sites.  [Hence the STD/CRAZIES comment at the beginning of the post.] Honestly, my coworker starting the whole 'online dating journey' a month a go was the best things since butter popcorn (anyone catch the MobWives Chicago reference there? ha).  But on the real, I'm tempted to join purely for the entertainment.  There are so many weirdos out there.  Annnndd you know how I do ;). haha. jk.  Not happening. But can you imagine what it would do for my Wednesday segments? hmmm...

Lastly, did I mention that I have a new Asian friend? I know right.  I can't believe I just typed that. weird.  But basically I didn't write down any of his stuff because, well, he's Asian and for some reason the way he says everything is so funny to me so I realized that it probably might not be as funny for reals to everyone else, it's just... that he's Asian, AND a convert to the church, which, in itself is freaking hilarious. Ha. I will try to capture some good things from him this next week. But until then I just wanted to announce the thing about the asian friend because...It's kind of a big deal.

Pictures from the past. A super random post of crap you probably don't care about.

I don't know what possessed me to do it but last night I pulled down the tote with all of my pictures of the last 6 years or so.  I was really just looking for one thing but I couldn't stop flipping through the pages of the books. Pictures from college, trips, family things, you name it.  If I had my camera (yeah, didn't have the fancy smart phones for almost all of my college years. weird. I'm old) then we were taking pictures.

As I sat in my over-sized closet and looked at pictures from the past I could help but get a little emotional.  Isn't it amazing how much you can forget?  I usually can't remember what I did a couple days ago so pictures are honestly the best thing to help spark up some great memories.

Looking through them brought up a few different emotions.  I was happy because I was laughing at all of the good times I've had and all of the great people who have blessed my life, and some of the things we wore, and how we looked, but at the same time couldn't help but get a little sad.  I don't get to see some of these people very often, if at all anymore and that sucks because they were such a huge part of my life.  BUT, I'm so grateful for the way things happened and when they did.

Even though I miss those times, I was reassured that everything has happened the way it was supposed to happen and when it was supposed to happen and I am a better person because of it all.  From my first roommates and best friends in college, to the heartbreaks and breakdowns.  They were exactly what needed to happen at the time and what helped to get me to where I am right now.

I know this isn't a "new years/new beginnings" post or whatever, but as I shut the tote again last night, I realized that I need to start filling up a new one because the college one is full--And that is super exciting!  I've got a pretty good start from the past two years.  I will probably call it "Post College: Trying to be an adult."  Because that's really what I'm doing.  I'm having so much fun but in the midst of it all, just trying to find a balance and figuring out what I'm going to do next.  Never ending story.  [Just like my love for carbs.  Which, I know I've mentioned multiple times, but after looking at some of my past pics.. the carbs need to GTFO again. merp.]

But on the real, I learned on twitter that you go through a cycle of friends/experiences every 7 years.  I still talk to quite a few people from the last 7 years and am still really close to a few so I'd say I'm in better shape than some.  According to UberFacts, I guess :)

Here are just a few I quickly picked from the college days tote. There were SOOO many more that were cracking me up last night.  The ones that didn't make it on to Facebook way back when.  [Can I just mention that they are probably on Myspace since that was still the big deal the first year of college?  Omg. ha ha. Am I really getting that old?]

Sometimes I just want to come home, take off my bra, sit and not be judged for it. mmmkay.

I've been doing some deep thinking lately.  Thinking about some of the things I've pushed aside for quite sometime now. You know, the basic, "what am I doing with my life?" kinds of questions.

All through High School and college the word "settle" was never in my vocabulary.  I was involved in virtually everything I was interested in and had the time to do, I had great grades, goals and dreams.  I was going somewhere!  (Ok. Not that I'm not going somewhere now, but I think you understand what I mean.)

I've blogged about letting yourself get comfortable before, because, let's face it...it's SO easy to do.  (Who doesn't like being comfortable? And no, I'm not talking about the "put on sweats and take off your bra" kind of comfortable, which I love). We enjoy being comfortable because comfortable is easy.  But, sooner or later, something usually happens...inevitable change.  Sometimes little changes don't make much of a difference in our lives.  Some are so small that we are able to pick up, adjust, and carry on.  However, there are some changes that seem to rock you and you want to be like "WAH, why now?!" or, "Will someone please just tell me what to do?" or just "MERP," sometimes followed with a dramatic lip pout or ugly cry.  I digress.

I think this is happening right now.  Currently, I'm at that moment where I'm trying to figure it out.  Where comfortable is feeling lazy.

I think it all started with the move.  I'm in a new apartment, in a new area, and a new ward.  Oh, and let's not forget to mention that Cole is home again.  I love all of these things.  I dig the new apartment that is finally starting to feel like home, and I think I'm really going to enjoy my new ward.  But as I try to help Cole figure out what he's going to do next, I can't help thinking about what I am doing and where I am.

Don't get me wrong, I love my job and I couldn't have asked for a better start to my career.  But, like with most college graduates in their starting job, it isn't what I want to do forever.  I know that no one expects that of me but I have just been so busy being comfortable that I've forgotten about where I want to go next.

Basically, put me in my oversized kitten t-shirt from walmart and call me lazy.  That's what's up.

As I talked to my mom last night she reminded me of the potential that I have and stressed the importance of being happy with what you are doing so that you will want to continue doing it.  I stayed home last night to let myself have one moment to think about me and where I am with my personal self.  As I laid on my floor and starred at the ceiling and sort of meditated (don't make fun, I do this whenever I get the chance), I realized that I don't have it figured out and I may have forgotten about some of my goals and what I eventually want to be doing... It's one thing to take it slow, but to forget and do nothing about it?  That's a problem.

I may not know what I'm supposed to be doing yet but I do know this:

I have great potential and whatever it is that I want to do someday, It probably won't be easy, but I can do whatever I put my mind too.  Right now, it's just a matter of working on some prioritizing and not letting myself get lazy and just figuring it all out.  I might be feeling a little lost right now, but I know that's my own fault.  I guess I just need to try to figure some things out so I can have some revelation/help in figuring out what the Lord has in store for me and where I need to be and what I need to be doing.  I long for the day I can again be like "get thee hence satan" *with attitude of course* Aka: Dear world, stop being so entertaining so I can prioritize my life and figure it all out.  So I can once again have some of those strong feelings I used to have all the time when I had things in check and it was like:  "GO to BYU Idaho" or  "I know you don't have a job but move to Salt Lake City after you graduate anyways" or my favorite "Stay in Layton" followed with the "I think I'm going to barf" sick feeling.  I might not have understood those things then but I do now and I just haven't felt those strong promptings for a while and I know exactly why.

humph.  Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks like this?

No, I still don't have it figured out.  I don't know what to do next BUT, I'm just going to start with Prioritizing.  oh.. and Praying like crazy.

Remember that one time I got in the car and drove through the night to Canada? Oh yeah.

Have you ever just had those times when you really just can't seem to catch a break?!  Right.  You're human, I'm human...it happens to all of us.  I just have been feeling some weird energy these past couple of weeks.  Maybe it's the whole moving process that has jacked everything up but honestly, I've had people around me loosing their jobs, their cars breaking, sicknesses...you name it.  Like Nieko said to me the other day, "everyone needs to watch their backs" because there are so many weird/bad things happening lately.

Although, I agree with him 100% I can't help but think about some of the blessings in the midst of it all.  Maybe that's just me trying to be optimistic in hopes that things will start looking up and calm down again.  Because really, it can start to calm down any time now! I don't know.  If you follow me on any social networking site you know that I had to make a little unexpected drive to Canada this week.  Yeah, it happened...

Here's the shortened version: (yes, it's still long but it was CRAZY).  So, Cole decided to come home a month early from his job up there installing security systems and his car broke down only an hour away from the border.  After getting it towed to the nearest town of Fernie, BC and booking him a night in this crappy motel that still charged over $100 a night, we quickly found out his car was dunzo. gone. crapped out.  That was monday morning.  The rest of the afternoon on Monday was spent with Jamie, Mom and I calling each other over and over again trying to figure out a solution.  We had to figure out how to get his car picked up for the junk yard as well as how to get him and ALL of his luggage home.  It was basically a horrible day. I mean, it's a stressful situation anyways but add the whole "he's in another country" thing to a mix and it becomes a nightmare. Oh and work was beyond crazy and I missed Stephen R. Covey's memorial thing at work. BOO! anyways...

Of course he was in a crappy small town where the nearest greyhound station was a 30 minute walk from where he was.  I know that doesn't seem TOO bad but when you have a set of golf clubs, 3 LARGE suitcases, a backpack, and tools with you, it basically makes it impossible to do.  Not to mention, the bus route that we originally found online would take him 2 days and 8 hours to get home.  Um, also a nightmare considering the drive in the car is only 11 hours. I know what you're thinking... what about a flight or a rental car?  Yeah, no airport and no rentals that can leave the country and be returned to the states.

About 4 o'clock pm it was decided that because I was the only one with a passport, that I would need to drive up there and get him.  Of course I offered.  HELLO.  2 days on a greyhound with basically a car load of shiz that he'd have to some how lug around and get onto transfer busses? No. Not happening.

So, you guys.. I completed something off my bucket list on Monday!  I've always wanted to go somewhere (a trip) where I just decide to go, pack a small bag and just leave that same day. Spontaneous.  Of course, it would have been ideal if it was flying and to somewhere that I stayed for more than 3 hours, and for something that was fun or relaxing but whatever.  It counts!

I grabbed my passport, packed a small bag, got in the car at 7 pm and drove through the entire night.  I crossed the Canadian border and arrived to Cole about 5:30 am.  British Columbia.  WOOT WOOT.  Thank you, Red Bull, iTunes and the GPS app on my phone for getting me there safely.  I'm honestly, not sure how I did it without falling asleep.

You guys, Canada is beautiful! I wish I could have stayed for more than just the sunrise, breakfast, and a stop at the Canadian Superstore for chocolate ...but whatever...

Back to the whole blessings thing in the midst of all the craziness..  we are so lucky that I had those two extra days off that I had saved for Savanna's wedding when it was supposed to be in August.  Without that, I wouldn't have been able to go. We're so lucky that the towing was as cheap as it was and that the mechanic didn't charge him to diagnose the car.  Idk.  It's just the little things.  Sure, I was an emotional wreck on Monday because I REALLY didn't want to drive all the way to Canada by myself but at the end of the day, I would do anything for my family and the people I love.

On the bright side, too, We were able to drive straight back through Parma and see our Family!!  So we stayed the night and got back to Utah Wednesday night.  Yes, Cole is still without a car but I guess that we will work on that this weekend.  (Pray for me) Like, I said, we are go-go-go around here.  Hopefully I will catch a break sometime this weekend.  I think I need some time to just "be."  hahaha, these days, the thought of that is even a joke.

Really though, in the midst of all the craziness that you might have in your life right now, just count your blessings.  That's what honestly keeps me going!

Making this place a home!

So, I made the move to the other side of town. Finally!  Here's the thing.  I love the packing process because it means organizing.  However, moving into a third floor apartment when you have furniture and beds and dressers, is not my idea of fun.  I'm sure it wasn't for any of my helpers either..seriously.  I honestly don't know what I would have done without my friends (Liz, Nieko and Amanda) for helping me with the move.  They are rock stars and I totally owe them big time.

I've basically got everything put away aside from Cole's room, and I'm still a little nervous about putting holes in the new walls so I haven't done any of the decorating really, but it will come! I have my own bathroom now, everything is brand new and omg, I love my kitchen.  It really doesn't feel real that I live here now.  I'm sure it will start to soak it soon.

The only bad things thus far are the following.  1.) some punk has parked in my assigned covered spot and hasn't move.  I totally want to slit her tires.  But I think I will resolve to a hate note tonight.  I'm not messing around, I will turn her in.  That's my spot, LADY!  That, and something isn't hooked up right with my washing machine. It's brand new, so I know it's not broken.  Of course maintenance doesn't work on Saturday so yeah... Here's to week 2 without laundry.  fml.  JK.  I totally love my life.

Things are good!

I will post more pics of the rest of the place once I have it all put together!  WAIT until you see my massive closet.  woot woot.

So I'm a little late...

No, no. I'm not pregnant if that's what you were thinking!

I told you I was all sorts of confused this week.  So confused, in fact, that I woke up this morning thinking that today was Wednesday even though last night I knew that I was moving the day after tomorrow (which is actually tomorrow now.) Seesh.  Ok. What I'm saying is that I forgot to do my Wednesday Quote segment for the first time in...well... since I started doing it last year.  Eek.  Maybe it's just because I really only had about 4 things jotted down for the week so I just kind of already planned in the back of my head that I wasn't going to do it.  I don't know.

forgive me.  I know a lot of funny things were said but I can only remember a couple.

"That was really funny.  Your face was like "[B] Get out my way!"
-Stranger in the Walmart parking lot talking about my sassy attitude I guess I gave this lady as she was trying to back out the WRONG way out of the parking lot.
This guy had his window rolled down and he was also waiting for the dumb lady to back out so he would take her parking spot.  I didn't think I was giving that much 'tude but with how dramatic people say I am, I'm guessing it must be true if a random stranger can pick it up. oops.  But really... I was thinking that about the lady.

"I will titty tweak you to the moon and back"
-Jess's mom
hahaha. I'm not really sure what this means, but I'm thinking that would hurt a whole lot.  Moral of the story...don't mess with Jess's mom.

"tits, tits!"
-Kid I don't know in the new ward. (Amanda's Friend AKA Tits boy from here on out.)
haha. OK, so apparently Amanda says "Tut Tut" a lot. Whatever. I'm assuming it's a little something like "tisk tisk" which also doesn't make sense but at least it's like, um... a real saying.  Anyways.  This kid was trying to remember what Amanda always says and he blurted ^that^ out.  in church.  Yeah, it was hilar and he was embarrassed which made it even more funny.  HA.

"Who's the wiener now?"
-Jared (kid in the new ward)
I called him a wiener because he was running from the fireworks.  Well, when one of them was coming our way, I ended up running too, getting a little scared, laughing and then, um... peeing my pants a little. (as I mentioned in yesterday's post).  Yeah, I was totally the wiener that time.  Thanks, Jared.

"I'm jealous of you everyday." -Jamie
"Why would you be jealous of me?" -Me
"Because you're really FUN." -Jamie
HA. I guess I can be pretty fun some days.

Yeah, I should have just stuck with not doing this post with hopes I would be able to pull one together next week. Whatever.  I will add a few Twitter facts as fillers:) those are always fun.

nasty, right?
*shiver*

I don't know why I think this is so funny.
I mean, I know money is REALLY disgusting but cocaine? ummm..

Nightmare.

I honestly sat in bed and tried to think of words that would prove this wrong...
I couldn't.

There are some good things about living in Utah, I suppose. Don't worry, It's not a tragic tale about how I really just want to move home but I'm just going with a 10 month lease in a brand new apartment...for now.

Remember how I live in Utah and we celebrate Pioneer Day like it's another 4th of July Celebration and we get the day off and are paid for it?  Yeah, it happens.  This year it fell on a Tuesday so with that and moving on Friday, I only have to work 3 days this week but because yesterday was a random mid-week day off, I'm all sorts of confused.  I thought Monday night was Friday, yesterday was Saturday and I was hoping that this morning I would be able to sleep in and just get ready for 1:00 pm church but nooooo it's a work day. woot woot *insert sarcastic thumps up*

Basically, what I'm saying is I feel like a had a back-to-back weekend sort of.  Monday night we got snow cones with cream (omg, to DIE for) and then we just came back to the apartment and ate junk.  Of course we had to go and get junk first because, let's face it, everything in my apt is basically packed up and I pretty much only have canned foods, a cucumber, some cheese, otter pops, or some fruit snacks to offer any guests who walk through my door.  But the canned stuff is a bust because, well, I don't have any dishes out to cook it. ...smh.  I have a feeling the next two days will be a little miserable. HA!

That night a couple of the friends were over and we just ended up chatting and there is one thing that's been on my mind from that.  We have this thing were we like to analyze people (you know this) and one of the questions was that we were to come up with 5 words to describe each person.  Let's just say, I thought I had the "you care too much about other people's problems" things under wraps but apparently, I don't.  I know they don't think it's this super huge problem because we all know it's good to care about people...to an extent.  Man, if they only knew how I was two years ago... haha.

I think it's good to hear about the way that people really see you.  It might make you think, "UGH! Really?!" but I think it really just keeps you on your toes.  It really helped me know what I need to work on and, actually, helped me to realize that there are some things that I personally think I need to work on all the time but everyone else seems to think I'm too hard on myself for those exact same things.

If you get the chance, and you're lucky enough to have people in your life that will be completely honest with you, ask them to give you 5 words to describe you and then decide that you are going to learn from it and really apply it!

It's kind of nice.  And on the other end, it was nice to really have to sit and think about what I really know about the people I surround myself with and how much I really look up to them and learn something from each of them individually.  Just try it, I think you'll understand where I'm coming from.

Ok, sorry, that's just something on my mind lately.
But for a the quick update on everything else and the rest of the pioneer "weekend":

The move is the day after tomorrow.
If you're from here and you love sugar cookies...Cutler's glazed sugar cookies. O.M.G.
I totally peed my pants in front of a couple new people who were hanging out with us.
-don't worry, I wasn't the only one who did. but still..nice.
-I can't believe it's gotten to the point that I'm not embarrassed about it at all.
-however, the thought of the previous statement is a little embarrassing.
-one positive...I learned that scrubs are actually really comfy.  [thanks, Jess]
I really don't like when plans are made and people back out.  It's getting a little annoying.
I went to the new ward last Sunday.  It should be pretty good, I think.
   -no more Linger Longer?! HALLELUJAH.
Cole's contemplating coming come early...We'll see.
-just wish it was to help with this moving crap! boo.
-I have too many other things to worry about right now first.  AKA. moving.
I honestly can't wait to move into the new apartment
-a little nervous? yes. But I know I will feel better once I'm all moved in.
I'm not going to miss the Asians neighbors.
I'm not going to miss the mexican kids who crawl under the fence of my apartment.
   -SKETCH
There are some people you love but can only take in small bits.
I really can't stand when people act like they know what they are talking about.
-Freaking ANNOYING. Like, "get out of my face annoying."
I like, super miss my family.  One month till our family Disney Trip? umm..
-yeah, we'll see how long I can hold out before going home for a visit.
I have really great friends for pulling together and helping me move on Friday.  Seriously.

Oh, and I actually really enjoy croquette.
