Am I being Punk'd?

I know that spring is right around the corner but just because you put tights under a skirt or dress that barely falls below your behind, it doesn't make it appropriate for singles ward.

I turned my head a couple times in sacrament yesterday as people walked in late and thought, "Am I being Punk'd?"

Although cute, we'd all appreciate it if you didn't wear it to church. Thanks.

Today's Punkage: No more 90210 for a month? What kind of sick joke is this? Not right when Teddy finds meets the new/cute gay kid on the block, Silver admits to hooking up with her bff's bf and Naomi hooks up with the cutest nerd since Max in Greek! Gah. *Fist shakes all around.

I'm Jennifer Hansen...and I've been Punk'd. Where's Ashton!?

"Go drink a bottle of yourself, Evian"

Fact: Ice water is my choice of drink. Add a straw and you've really got me!

I mentioned at the beginning of the year that one of my new year's resolutions is to not buy bottled water during 2011 (unless in a different country or when in a pinch where it becomes a necessity) and so far, as expected, it's not even a problem.
These little gems make it easy:
I carry my black one (with the flip straw) everywhere I go. Not only do I continue to fill it up, ensuring that I'm getting all of the water I need in a day, but I feel just a little better knowing that I'm being a little more cautious than before when it comes to waste and doing my part in helping this situation:

Yes, I'm still traumatized from my trip to the landfill with my dad...I read that nearly 90 perfect of all consumed bottled water isn't recycled. Instead, it's thrown in the garbage leaving it to go to landfills where it can take up to a thousand years to decompose.

I won't get too deep into it.. I don't want people calling me a Tree Hugger--although, *side note*, some people don't mind that title.. ie: the car I stopped behind the other day with the following license plate:

Really people? Really?..

If you go through lots of bottled water, I won't judge. I've purchased my fair share of them as well. But it's just a suggestion to save a little money and invest in a Nalgene bottle of some kind. If you don't like the taste of your tap water...purchase a Brita. They come in cute colors and make the water crisp and delish. I have this one in my fridge:

Not only will it save you money but it just makes sense! And if you are still going to drink your plastic bottled water/sodas.. Recycling will help :)

Thanks for letting me vent!

Yep. Thumb out.

Remember a couple of posts ago when I mentioned the conversation Cole and I had about flipping people off ? If not, go here.

I know it's ridiculous and I really don't care, I was just curious and wondering the proper way... thumb out, thumb in? I saw the gesture a lot in high school but spending four years of college at BYU-Idaho and living in Utah I haven't really seen it a lot. Oh, except when I first moved down here and a little old man didn't seem to think that I understood the Utah driving rules.

Well I just thought I would set the record straight that my lil man Justin Bieber seems to think thumb out is the way as he proved when he flipped off a camera the other day. I won't post the pic on my blog to save myself from the potential judgements but you all know how to google.

See. Thumb out. I called it...Gangster. More dramatic.

Oh and let's not judge JB... sure, he's supposed to be an example to the children but he apologized and I can only imagine what the paparrazzi are capable of doing just to get a pic of him.

*note, I'm not supporting the hand gesture or justifying just because I love JB. The end.

Nothing a little Z-A-C won't fix

Remember the movie "Valentine's Day?" OK, definitely wouldn't receive an award for best plot in a movie, but we all saw it at least once because of all of the fab people jam packed into one movie who's lives are all mysteriously intertwined...

As I was doing my daily (quick) people.com skim, I couldn't be more excited when I saw one of my favorite celebs on the set of his new movie "New Year's Eve" which is going to be movie similar to the way Valentine's Day was done. I'm betting it will be the exact same concept.

Will I see it? You better believe it. I mean, look how beautiful he is :) :)

If you want to see the rest of the cast you can go to imdb.com. Great website! Looks like a great cast again. Halle Berry, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ashton Kutcher, Josh Duhamel (enough said)! Nah--Even Glee's Lea Michele is casted.
Even though I hope it's really good I know it's got Dud potential...But nothing a little Zac Efron won't fix for me! woot.

Linkin Park After Dark

You know how in some movies girls have perma lip gloss? Like in "The Stranger" when the main girl is frantically hiding and trying to get away from the creeper in the house but somehow she manages to ALWAY have lip gloss on? Well, I would never wish for perma lip gloss but I do wish that my nails could be perma "Linkin Park After Dark."

Slap two coats of this baby on and you've got the 'not quite black but perfect shade of purp' look!

I'm boring I suppose. I've gone through three of these bottles since I fell in love with the color and I'm out--AGAIN. I've been wearing dark blue for a couple weeks and I've over it. But It would be nice for it to just stay on all the time. Painting the nails once a week gets annoying but I feel like I have man hands when I don't. Therefore... Linkin Park it is!

Oh and in the name of Linkin Park and for good times sake:

Lately:

-I've been thinking of adding "unprofessional therapist" to my resume. Unprofesh because I didn't go to school for it of course.

-I've had the strangest dreams about Cappie from Greek the last couple of nights. His character is strangely attractive and for some reason I like all of the rings he wears. Weird.

-I've been trying to grow out my hair and I think that I've officially reached "medium" length. Woot Yeah! Oh and my bangs can almost be tucked behind my ear... Maybe it's time to stop being the frumpy frumpster and cut and highlight it. But I'm kind of digging the length. We'll see.

-Everyday I get more and more excited for my baby nephew to come!!!!!!

-Cole and I have had the weirdest conversations. Of course I bring up the most random topics. Today we talked about how you shouldn't give people the "finger" aka: flip people off but if you do... do you tuck your thumb in or stick it out? I'm not sure if each way means something different. Then we decided that it doesn't matter because we don't flip people off. Solved. Although I think it has more of a dramatic effect when people stick their thumb out when doing the gesture. gangster? idk. Who cares.

-I've been especially amazed this week by how things can be going one way and then all of a sudden life as you know it has been changed forever. I've noticed moments like this recently in my life and in the lives of some of my closest friends and family. IE: my sister moving back to Idaho this weekend and my dearest friend who proposed to his love a few days ago:) These are changes in my life as well but they are good changes and I couldn't be more happy!

(side note, "Life as we know it" the movie...super cute. Umm.. Hello Josh Duhamel!!..still can't believe he's married to Fergie.)

-I may or may not have used youtube in the last few days to help me gain a new skill. HA. In the works.

-There are songs that I can play over and over again because the lyrics explain exactly how I feel about life and what not. But as much as I LOVE music I've realized that sometimes you have to turn off the music, listen to your own voice and realize that this is real life. I don't do it too often but it's in those quiet moments that I can really evaluate the way things are going and remember that life isn't as dramatic as I make it seem sometimes.

-I've learned... hardly anyone goes to FHE when there is a "Speaker." ESPECIALLY if there is a Jazz Game on. I missed that memo.

-Today's lessons: The key to trust is communication....

SLOW down.

Cole and I went out to lunch yesterday and we decided to sit at the table right next to this couple who CLEARLY were on their first date. I tried to mind my own business but I just couldn't help myself.

Here's the scenario:

First date.

Guy: white male. brown hair. average.
Girl: tan female. dark long hair. (let's just say, he did better in the combo).

Here's a little snippet of how the convo went down: *Note* the guy talked faster than any guy I've ever talked too and jumped to different tangents just as fast...

Guy: Do you love Rascal Flats Sam?
Girl: I LOVE Rascal--
Guy: No way Sam, I love Rascal Flats. I have all of their CD's and listen to them in the shower. no Joke. Oh wow, you have such white teeth. seriously.
Girl: oh, thanks!
Guy: I'm so glad that you decided to come out with me. I mean, all the other girls in the ward think that I'm just a player or something. seriously. I'm totally not a player. But I can just see that you aren't like the other girls. I mean I wasn't planning on being this open with you. You're just so easy to talk to. I hope you're not freaked out that I'm so open.

*little toddler walks by...

Guy: oh my goodness I love kids, sam. Seriously. One of my best friends has a little boy and even they call me Uncle Derrick. The first time I saw him I held him for 2 hours. 2 hours Sam! I wouldn't even let anyone else hold him. I just love kids.

*Scene.

GAHHH... I could barely concentrate on eating my lunch. I couldn't get over this guy and how all over the place he was. I mean, sure we've all had our fair share of awkward conversations. Sometimes we slip and say things that we don't mean or we stammer a little. We may be nervous but really!? I may not be an expert on "normalcy" but I do know these things:

1.) Even though I love hearing people call me by my name randomly in a conversation....doing it over and over again is weird and starts to feel insincere.
2.) Even when nervous, ALWAYS let the other person talk. If you ask them a question, let them finish and let the conversation flowwwww.
3.) Don't try to one-up everything the other person says. It's annoying and it just makes me want to get up and leave without saying anything or to make up bizzare stories just so I can one-up you right back. just sayin.
4.) I don't think it's necessary to prove that you love kids on the first date. That's like your date to mother your childen right there. Sure, you can say that you like kids but let's leave it at that for the first date.
5.) Slow down!

Oh but props to the kid for going on a date. Good for you ;)

D Box.

Remember seeing Avatar in 3D...oh excuse me, REAL D, and how amazing it was. The colors seemed more vibrant and I distinctly remember being so excited about feeling as though I could reach out and touch one of the seeds of Eywa. I mean, really, they were right in front of your face.

I've seen other movies in 3D since then, yes, including the JB movie but since Avatar the 3D just seems to leave me less than satisfied.

Well, forget 3D! Today the bro and I decided we were going to spend the extra cash to have a "D-Box" experience at the theater. Never heard of D box? Check out the 30 second clip below:

I think the only thing I didn't care for about the whole D box experience is the fact that there are only two rows and there are other people in regular seats watching the movie behind you. I would think that would be distracting to see the seats in front of you thrashing around but whatever. It was pretty sweet and I was so involved in the movie that I quickly forgot about the awkwardness.

Of course I don't think you need these for every movie but for a great action movie, it's really neat. Cole and I decided to see "I am Number Four" which is a great movie in itself but I really felt like I was in the movie. I felt like I was falling, I could feel thunder, the waves in the water, the aftershock of explosions and had to grab my mouth a couple of times so I wouldn't scream because I was so startled. Let's not forget to mention that when I walked out of the theater I kind of thought that I had powers. Just sayin... (but let's face the fact that I usually feel that way in movies. Just like after watching Green Hornet when I thought I could open up a can on anyone who crossed my path or in Step Up 2 and 3 when I automatically thought I was a break dancer?) Whatev. It was cool!

Aside from the D Box experience I thoroughly enjoyed this boy--Alex Pettyfer: Um. Gorgeous.

Oh and let's not forget to mention Glee's Dianna Agron as his love interest. She did a fabulous job.

Over all it was a great film and I can't wait for the next one! I recommend seeing it even if you don't go the D Box route. Just prepare yourself for some nasty looking alien people...for real.

Bieber Fever

My coworker sent this to me at work today with a note that said:

This is you :)

I don't care if everyone knows that I love JB. For the record i'm not IN love with him. I just love how talented he is and the fact that he "NEVER SAID NEVER" and reached for his goals. Wow. Cheesy. Maybe I am this girl in the pic?...I've purchased a bunch of his music, cried in his movie, watched him play in the All Star Celeb game, stayed up late last night to watch him on CSI and started calling ANY guy who wears his hood for no reason "Justin Bieber." Whatevs. The kid is super talented.

Mixing Paints.

I may not be good when it comes to painting, but I could sit and mix paints for hours. My favorite thing to do is to take pure white paint and mix small amounts of black making different shades of Grey.

I love Grey. It's always been interesting to me that there are so many different shades of Grey and that each one is so unique and beautiful.

So why, in life, do people say that there is only Black and White and no Grey areas? I mean, we know that's not true when it comes to paint. So does that mean you can choose to obey the rules a little here and a little there and sit on the edge?

Lately I've been faced with some situations in my own life and in the lives of others where i've questioned if it's OK to sit in the Grey for a while. I've come to the conclusion that I've spent most of my life working toward getting out of the Grey--the indecision. I am working toward adding the white and getting rid of some of the gunk but it's hard sometimes!

I can face the fact that no one is perfect; I'm definitely not! But I do know that there are some situations where it's got to be either you're in or you're out, you are or you're not...especially when other people's feelings are on the line (sorry, very passionate about this today!)

To those people who always seem to sit in the Grey in the most important decisions of their lives... Pull it together! You are the artist of your own life. Choose the color you want to use, commit to it and make it the best darn painting it can be. If you slip up, own it and fix it. Don't waste months or even years trying to decide what color you are going to use or being so cautious that you never take risks....If you do, you are only risking the chance to paint/create something beautiful.
