Things I don't understand as of late...

1.) I used to think that pay phones were the most disgusting thing on the planet....until I was almost in desperate need of using one when the BB croaked.  Here's the thing though: they like, don't exist any more..at least not on Main Street of Layton, Utah.  So even if I would have worked up the courage to use one I wouldn't have been able to find one.

How did people communicate before phones.  Really?

2.) I've caught myself a couple of times in the last few days saying that "it's kind of nice not having the Internet on my phone."

OMG, WHO AM I?!?

I will say that I now spend way less time on fbook and have at least an extra hour added to my day.  It's ridic how much more I get done.  However,  I still feel like this sometimes:

Disconnected.  Hard core.  That just means that I have to work harder to pry stuff out of people in person instead relying heavily on my fbook stalking skills ;)

3.) I love fireworks. I enjoy blowing crap up.  But why do people always insist on throwing them at me when I'm not looking?  It's fire people.  Boom, hot, ouch...Fire! Ring a bell?  Idiots.

4.) Mafia.  Ok, the game is good.  However, aside from some strategy, stealth and lying, there isn't much to the game yet it gets SOOOO heated.  Maybe it's because our crew has some really talented liars?  Yeah, I think so.

I wish I would have video taped all of the yelling and accusations when we played the other night.  Heated but fun? I don't get it.  But like I said, for some reason it's really fun...except if you die on the first round.  Sorry Easton ;)

5.) umm... I saw this on E news last night and almost had a heart attack. For real:

I've done some research and Ashley came out saying that they aren't dating but helllrrr? omg. Dating or not.  Really, Zac?  uggghhh.

One last thing:

Numero 6.) I really don't understand why people can't be honest with others about their feelings.  If you feel a certain way...let people know for crying out loud.  Keeping it to yourself when all you want to do is let it out will only drive you nuts.  So let it out.  I know...everyone needs this advice.  It's rough but trust me.  You'll feel better :) I promise.

Love you, lovelies.

Cursed? When it rains it Pours? Yep. Confirmed.

I'll just start.

I remember thinking last week that I was starting to get really comfortable with life. Things just seemed to be working out so well. The job was good, my baby nephew was here, friends were good..My life was just really comfortable.

Why is it that just when we think life gets comfortable that we desperately want a change? I remember thinking exactly that. Thinking that I needed a change. I shudder with regret at the thought.

This could be the ultimate pitty/"Wo is me" post but no one wants to hear that and honestly, I'm not looking for sympathy at all.  I just want you to be in the know :)

Here is goes:

Hell Week (watered down version)

Going to Idaho to see my BFF get married and my little nephew born was so great but I was ready to get back to work and back to see some of my Utah friends.  I decided that I would head back early morning on Wednesday so I could get back and shop, do laundry and spend the day with Cole since he had the day off.

Basically an hour and 30 minutes away from home...click, click, click.  putt, putt, putt.  BANG.  Something busted on my car.  If I only knew at that moment how bad the damage was, I would have left the car on the side of the road.  Of course I didn't know.  About 2 hours and $380 later, the old tow truck man picked me and the corolla up and dropped us off at the most GHETTO auto shop in Tremonton named Darryl's.  The name says it all.

I didn't think I was cursed until later down the road when this chain of events happened.  I'll talk fast.  Go with me on this.

Found out engine needed replaced.  Said engine=$2,000.  Not Worth it.  Cried. Decided this meant a new car.  Excited for a minute.  Anxiety.  Cried some more. Took ANOTHER day off. Car shopped.  Found beautiful/expensive car.  Convinced by father to find something cheaper.  Left car dealership. Frustrated.  Focused on breathing.  Car shopped online.  Black Berry shuts off.  Won't turn back on.  FREAKED out.  Upset.  Remembered I'm still car-less.  Walked sorry rear-end to AT&T store.  Super hot outside.  Embarrassed.  Super embarrassed.  Found out phone croaked.  Not due for upgrade until November.  Wanted to Die.  Got $10 flip phone.  Canceled $30 data package. SUUUUCKed at T9.  Walked home.  Still upset.  Sweating.  Got home.  Found old DINO Black Berry.    Disconnected from Fbook and internet on phone, say whhaaaaa?  Still car-less.  Cried some more.  A lot more.  Hung out with friends.  Briefly forgot about troubles. Fun.  Next Day. Drove hour to tremonton to get stuff out of car.  Auto guy forgot keys in car as promised.  Auto shop closed for the weekend.  Couldn't believe it.  Freaked out.  Anger.  Then laughter.  Still no car.  No apartment/mail keys....talked to padre about car situation. Maybe came up with solution.  Still cried some more.  Forgot about issues for day...

Whoa.

I honestly could have written a book just about the last 4 days but It's painful to even relive the super watered down, no detail version.  The word "Cursed" seems to be an understatement.

But you know what?  Today at church I realized that even though a lot of crazy crap went down over the last few days that seem to be the end of the world...and none of the issues have still been solved..it really isn't the end of the world.  I really do have a lot of things to be grateful for.  Sure, it's hard to see it when we are in our trial and being tested but everything that is happening to me right now just reconfirms the love that my Savior has for me.

Right now my life isn't comfortable and I'm OK with it.  I look at it as a way for me to learn and to grow.  Sure, I might not get the car that I want right now and I might want to give up sometimes and haven't worn make up in DAYS but I can choose to learn from everything and make smart decisions.  I have to.  I mean, this whole "curse"/crying thing is getting old.

Don't worry, I'll be fine and I'll keep you posted.  But it would be OK for you to mention me in your prayers :) OK, got to get some rest for the 4th of July festivities.  Another day to forget about real life and all the crap and time for Food, Friends, Fun, Freedom and Fireworks.

I will get back on track soon with awesome/meaningful posts but right now I've just got to figure crap out..

Things to remember.  You are never alone and Never give up.  Ever.

Ok, I'm rambling.  BYYYYEE

Funny things my Dad says and yet he STILL thinks he's the shizzzz.

Dad: "Ra Ra Ra a-aahh"
Me: "Dad, What is that you're humming?"
Dad: "Ga Ga" (said with a long A.)
Me: "You mean Gaga?"
Dad: "Yeah, her..or whatever she is."

Dad: "Can you do me a favor? and get on Yoo...Yoohoo...you-?
Me: "Um, do you know what you're talking about?"
Dad: "No."
Me: "Do you mean youtube?"
Dad: "No..you know what I'm talking about."
Me: "You mean Facebook?"
Dad:"Yeah, will you get on Spacebook and contact Sam Elliott and tell him to put out a new Western?"
Me: "haha. no."
Dad: "Or what is the other one?"
Me: "Twitter?"
Dad: "Yeah, Twit him and ask."
Me: "bahahahhaha. It's Tweet. and No."

Omg. I love my Dad. I also love him for spending so much fun with me this weekend flying kites, watching ridic movies, doing a special weenie/mallow roast with just me and my mom, raving over the perfect mallows we've ever roasted and well.. he's just funny. It's nice coming home :)

Welcome to the world, Baby Boy!

I've been talking about my soon-to-be baby nephew for a while now so I think it's appropriate to introduce him to my blogger friends. This is him. Mason James! He was born last night and he couldn't be more perfect. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to be home for it all because of work..but he came just in time! Sure, he came during my BFF's wedding reception but I was still able to get right over to the hospital and hold him when he was less than an hour old.

The second I saw him I couldn't help but cry. The whole baby thing is beautiful. I mean, you know that there is a baby coming for quite a while and that everything in your world is going to change but you don't know what they're going to look like and you never expect them to be so tiny and so perfect. It's crazy how quickly I fell in love with him.

I know everyone says that I'm prejudice because he's my nephew but GET. real. LOOK at that hair, his cute nose and smirk. He's adorable. No prejudice involved.

Really, I'm already obsessed with him and can't wait to teach him everything I know [don't worry, he already thinks I'm funny. He opened his eyes everytime I'd start singing Justin Bieber:)] This kid will know what's up.

We couldn't be more happy to have our little family gain a number 8:)

Little projects make me feel... awesome:)

Fact about Jenn--I love doing little projects and trying new things.  Here are a couple that I've tried in the last week.  Thank you Pinterest--my OBSESSION :)  All you have to do is click the picture below... and then click it again once you're at the Pinterest site and it will take you to the "How To!" Enjoy.

...OK, when Carli and I made these for our swim party last weekend they didn't LOOK like that.  But they were BOMB.  really.

Cute for like the beach or something? idk.  I just had to try them and they are super easy.  I actually had an green knit top that I didn't wear anymore and I used that for the strips of fabric.  Fun!

Samoa Girl Scout Cookies?! yes, please. I tried these a few weeks ago and yes, they taste fab.  But yes, they take a while to make.  I'd rather just buy the cookie, just saying.  But impressive? I think so.

Be ye warned:  the food recipes, especially the Deserts people are "pinning" are sooo tempting.  Obvi.

Homegirl knows how to work it.

It's pure talent and I'm not afraid to admit that I'm one of the best when it comes to getting all the deats.  In fact, it's probably 98% of the reason why all of my guy friends like to keep me around and I don't mind...
I'm THAT good :)

Are you for REAL!?

Sometimes we judge people just on looks.

Many times we seem to be pretty justified in our judgements:

I've posted about this before but I guess it's because I'm still pretty guilty of it....You know, the whole first impression/judgement thing?  I just can't seem to shake it. It really doesn't help that I'm in a new singles ward where I only know a couple of people.  I'm not complaining about it because I know I haven't tried.  However, it's because I don't know anyone in the ward that it's terribly difficult for me to focus during church as I find myself constantly observing the people around me.

I try to push those first impressions aside and see how they interact with others without them knowing that is what I am doing...because let's be honest, that would be a lot creepier than it already is. But really, some of the people who walked into that church yesterday were just asking for my judgements.

Let's get it straight.  I'm not sitting there and sizing up those who could use a little help in the beautification department.  Most of them don't know any better.  I'm talking mostly about the guys who come off as complete pigs and the girls who seem to be a toned-down version of the word described in the picture above.  I know, I don't know them so who am I to say what they really are?.... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.  I just need to get this off of my chest.

People: You can't show up for sacrament meeting wearing a black see-through lace top with a colored brightly bra and a matching hippy headband around your forehead TO CHURCH and not be judged for it.  Just sayin'. I'm sure most of the boys liked it.  In fact, I know the boys in the pew in front of me did.  But these are the ones that I would classify as the "Pigs."  Or, if you have been watching the Bachelorette this season, they would be mini versions of Bentley.  Ew. Gross.  Why would you want their attention?  I'd rather be cat lady than act out like that to get the attention of the "Bentley's" of this world.  Sure, they might be on the attractive side and you might want to kiss them a little [or a lot]. But if you can only stand to look at them and you want to puke every time they open their mouths to say something? Then, Um... yea, I'd rather take the cats.  And I HATE cats.

Whoa. *breathe*.  I think the main reason why this got to me yesterday was because I highly doubt that all of these people are really pigs and whores.  They are probably really nice/good people.  I just think they are just trying so hard to be accepted.  I know how that is. Trying to get attention, seeking validation from people of the opposite sex but NEWS FLASH, hunny.  It's not getting you any where and you kind of look pathetic.

What can we take home from this?

Always.

It doesn't matter who that is.  As long as you are being true, then who cares what other people think :)

Fathers

I know Father's Day is minutes from being over but I wanted to be sure that I gave a quick "blogger" shout out to my Father, Tracy Wade Hansen.   I know that everyone says that they couldn't ask for a better Dad and the same goes for this small town girl.  I've learned so much from my Dad.  He really is the best.  I've learned from him about the importance of family, religion, hard work, being the best that you can be and never giving up, no matter how hard things can get sometimes get.

I have so many great memories of my Dad growing up and even now that I'm an adult and have moved away from home, I am fortunate enough to keep our relationship growing and strong.  Every time I go home for a weekend I'm always so excited to spend time with him and my mom.  I went home a couple of weeks ago and he made me a yummy breakfast EVERY morning because he loves me :) [oatmeal, raspberry pancakes? hello delish!] That, and he thinks that he's the bomb.dot.com when it comes to cooking so he just loves to do it.  The truth is that he really is a good cook. I just like to tease him because he LOVES to admit how good he is at it.  Thank you, Diddy for sharing your talents!

We may not talk everyday but I never doubt his love for me.  Just like I never doubt the love that my Father in Heaven has for me as well.  I am just so blessed to have two amazing Fathers.  I really am a princess in both of their eyes.  And hello.  What more could a girl ask for? ...maybe a husband?  hahahaha. My Dad wishes!

Just say it.

There are many times in our lives when you have to say it like it is.

Exhibit A:

OK, don't tell me I'm the only one who got a kick out of this pic?  I can just see the Bun saying: "Doggggg--No Means No!"

Sometimes people don't pick up what you're putting down and you have no other choice but to stick out your hand and say "No! Can you not read the words coming out of my mouth?"

Even though we are taught from a young age about the importance of honesty, many of us as adults still are not always honest with ourselves and others when it counts.  We think that if we just agree and "go with it,"  or if we don't bring something up or don't talk about it that no one gets hurt....

When did we start thinking that was how it works? Because it shouldn't be that way at all.  That way mostly just sucks.

I think it's time to be honest when it counts [obviously there are tender moments with certain people that you have to appoach this in a different way.  You'll know when that time comes.]  You can be honest without being brutal.  You can share how you feel about a situation without doing major damage to the other person.  It's not hard--especially when they ask your opinion.  What is hard is having to explain why you didn't tell how you truly felt from the beginng or having to live with the fact that you never said anything at all and just ignored the situation.  Just because you ignore it, doesn't mean it goes away for the other person.  So why not just save yourself and others from the awkward confrontation down the road of "Why didn't you just tell me that's how you felt in the first place!?'

Sincere honesty is showing how much you care for someone.  I tell you the truth because I want you to know. It's refreshing for the giver and the receiver.  My motto: If someone asks--tell.  I might not always say it straight up but I will make sure it's clear.  And then it's up to the other person how they take it.

If that approach doesn't work for you, and there may be times when it doesn't, you might have to do the "Bun" approach above and be like "Listen--I said NO.  Get steppin'!'"

This doesn't just go for being honest about things that could be potentially hurtful to someone.  It is also true with those good feelings you have about people but you never tell them.  Umm... remind me again what good that is doing?

Honesty really is just love with its work boots on.  You have to work at it...but it's worth it in the long run.
