The "I hope this even makes sense because my eyes are so glazed over" post.

I have to say that I believe in Miracles.  I mean, I made it to work this morning after the Midnight showing of Pirates. Three hours of sleep.  Still feeling a little sick--Miracle!

...The only miracle I'm still waiting on is for a fairy godmother to use her magic to get me ready in the mornings so I DON'T look like a train wreck and to take away my love for carbs and licorice. not. going. to. happen...

Oh but here is one little magical gem I discovered a love for last night.  Vicks Vapor Inhaler.

Yes, I busted this out during the movies with no shame.  ahhh.. SO good! Throw in some cough drops and some visine maxium redness relief and you can sum up my night pretty well.  See.  Just like I said-- TRAIN. WRECK!

I'm bound to kick this thing.  Bed. DVR. Lots of fluids. Netflix Grey's Anatamy Season 3.  It ends tonight! *thrusts fist into air*

Lately: My cure to Blogger's Block.

A couple of months ago, one of my friends and readers asked me if I ever have blogger's block? Well, I do.  I guess we have to take into account that I've been sick the last few days but I've just been feeling....
uncreative? yeah.  I think that's a word, right?

Whatever.  Today you're just getting random.  Here you go:

Lately--

I've been feeling crappy.  Like sore throat, stuffy nose crappy, although, today is much better than the last couple of days.  Don't worry though, I've been drugging up, coughing in my elbow pit (not my hands) and drenching myself in Anti-bacterial.  I'm on the down slope :)

I'm kind of starting to freak out at how long my hair is getting.  So what, it's only to my shoulders but that's the longest I'm pretty sure it's ever been and it's WEIRD!  I'm tempted to cut it.

Confession: You know you've watched one too many episodes of the Real Housewives (Atlanta, OC, BH, NJ..any of them) when you start thinking that you could really use some collagen in your lips.  Really? Earth to Jenn.. You have the tiniest mouth and lip injections would be completely ridiculous. I wouldn't do it but still.. it's crossed my mind.  Maybe I need to lay off the Bravo TV for a while? Nah...

The last few days I've been told by a couple of people (not even any of my friends) that I should have been a therapist.  I don't know what it is that makes people think they can tell me anything and everything?  Even thought I'm happy with the way things are going...I've really thought about it.  Do I go back to school? What comes next?  But then I think... omg, student loans, tests, hard work.  bleck.  We'll see.  For now I'll just stick to the unpaid, unprofresh therapist that I already am.  Heaven knows I enjoy it :)!  really.

I have this one personal "self improvement" goal that I've been struggling with and working on for like a year now... especially over the last month.  Just one of those stupid nasty habits that we get ourselves into and we know we have to kick it but just can't seem too... I'm determined to conquer.  I have to.
Whoa, whoa... before you start calling me to confession..don't worry! It's not THAT bad.  We all have our flaws.

A few of my friends were hanging out last night and one of them started playing the piano and I just thought. "wow.  I wish I would have learned or taught myself how to play."  It really made me sit for a moment and appreciate the talents that each person has.  Really.  We all can't be good at everything and I'm just glad that I have a well rounded group of friends and family that each bring something amazing to the table.  There's the girl who makes you want to be a better person, the kid who can't say anything without making you laugh, the athletic one, the calm/patient one, the peace maker, the planner, the prankster and the one that you just "click" with.  Isn't it a beautiful thing?!

Oh crap.  I just realized this could have been 4 different posts.  Gah.  I guess that's the cure to a blogger's block--just keep typing!

Happy Thursday Homies :)

Not the last Efron post.

Sitting at home.  Sick with a cold.  Can't sleep.  Want my mom.  Drooling over Efron on Tumblr.

And this is why he's my number one.  My fake number one.  Full on celeb crush.

yep.

Nuff said.

Judge all you want. I don't. even. care :)

The Girl's a Straight Up Hustler

About a billion posts ago, (I round up) I posted about how I love when bands have clever album/song titles.  Well, here's another one.  All Time Low's album "Put Up or Shut Up."  Yes, it's an older album but we can't excuse the fact that it rocks.

"The Girl's a Straight Up Hustler" is the fave. Not only because the lyrics to the song are sick but hellerrrrr crazy amazing song title!?! Bomb.

Of course I went to Urbandictionary.com to "correctly" [bahahaha] define what a Hustler really is.  omg, I love urbandictionary.com.  especially the examples at the bottom of each definition. innapropriate, but nevertheless...hilarious.  Here's my favorite one (please ignore the grammar and punctuation in this..I had to leave it for effect..haha):

Hustler: someone who knows how to get money from others. selling drugs, rolling dice, pimpin. your hustlin for that money.

1)yo $10 a gram fool.

2)rolled a seven again, now pay me.

3)yo get over to that street corner B and make me some money.

Alright, so ATL wasn't referring to these kinds of Hustlers...the "pimping out/drug-pushing" kind.  The song is just about a boy who is sick of the "Hustler" of a girl who's left him a confused mess.  They're talking about the kind of girl who is really good at using what she's got to get everything she wants. Boys--she's the girl who puts on the heels and the designer jeans and wins you over simply because she is just so nice and gorgeous only for you to find out later [usually after you've fallen hard] that she never intended to date you or to be with you at all.  She was just being "nice" and really just sees you as a good friend.

Hustler.

I get it--girls can be cruel.  But just because the song is written about a girl, it doesn't mean that boys don't know how to do this too.  Girls, you know the kind I'm talking about.  We all know one of them.  It's the ones who always know ALL the right things to say and you can't help but fall for them because they are so stinking charming and attractive. Yep.  They are good at what they do too: Straight up Hustlin'.

Just trust me.  Listen to the song.

Judgement Day--LDS Single Style.

First impressions happen whether you like it or not.  You meet someone new, you shake their hand, you introduce yourself and you form instant judgements or opinions on who [you think] that person "is."  This doesn't mean that's really how the person is after you get to know them...but first impressions just happen.

If you say that you never judge (it doesn't have to be bad judging) then you're lying...or at least not telling the whole truth.  I'll call you on that one. Not that I'm judging you for judging :) ok.. moving on.

In a YSA ward (Young Single Adults), "Judgement Day" is HUGE.  You spend extra time getting ready because you know that the moment you walk into the room filled with completely new people that everyone, and I mean everyone, is starring you down and judging you even harder than they already do every other day.  It could be your personal debut to a new ward, the first day of a new semester, or the first day for everyone in a newly organized ward.  On Sunday, I experienced the latter and the inevitable judgement day took place.

On this day, you make your entrance and it's almost like you can't turn around with out Lacey Long-leg's eyes piercing your soul and picking you apart to make herself feel better. Or, even better, Rugged Randy sitting there and judging if you're gorgeous or righteous enough to take out on a first date that could potentially lead to marriage and being the mother of his children all based on his first impression of the clothes you are wearing and your sexy bod [or lack thereof].  blah blah blah.

You know how it is--the idea of it all is exhausting. But it just happens and for some reason, I love it.  I love judgement day! Not because I know that people are judging me [i don't really care about that part] but because it's extremely comical and awkward and because you know that everyone is doing it. Maybe that's why people watching is on my list of "top things I like to do."

My favorite thing to do when people stare? --Stare right back and make them wonder how you are judging them as a person.  It's fantastic. *insert evil laugh*

Did I make sure I looked my best? H-to yes.  It's all part of the show.

I tried to keep my judgements to a minimum especially since I've been trying to work on it.  But I'm going to declare "Judgement day" in a new ward as free day because you just can't control it--As long as you don't let your "first impression" judgements get in the way of really getting to know the person you are judging.

With that said, there were many things that went through my head on the first day in my new ward.  Yes, the ward will take a while to get used too, especially since I don't know anyone and it's much different than my old ward. But it's a good size, has some older people in it (which will be a good change), It's not all girls, and there were some pretty good looking guys.  Hallelujah.  It's obviously got some potential so we'll stay positive:)

Real quick.  Here are some of my [toned-down] thoughts.

To the group of guys sitting in front of me that was flicking the ear of the guy in front of them with a tongue compressor during the entire sacrament meeting--grow up.  There is a time and a place.

Ummm..makeover time! Please? *said with a serving and thoughtful attitude* [i swear]

Actually.  I'll stop there...before you think I'm a completely horrible person.  Just add in a few "Who did better?" scenarios with some of the couples, a mental note of cute guys and interesting characters and a few "SERIOUSLY?" statements and I think we can call it a wrap.

Bless the Singles Ward! Bless it real good.

Happy Mother's Day!

These are the girls in my family.  The one with the adorable dimples next to me is my mother.  The other with the gorgeous smile and ridiculously tan skin is my older sister.  Both moms.  Both incredible.

Growing up, people who always ask me what I want to be.  I'd reply with singer, dancer, astronaut, you know, all the typical answers of a child with big dreams.  Now I'm older, done with college and people don't ask me that question any more.  If they did I would tell them that I want to be a mom.  I know I could be good because I have such great examples in my life.

First, I need to give a shout out to my sister who got married last year and became an instant mom to a teenager, Regan.  I can't even express how much I love and look up to my sister.  She is one of the strongest people I know and her life has been blessed tremendously for it. She has the cutest little family and a tiny little baby on the way.  Yes, Regan is my niece now and she is incredible but this will be our first little baby nephew.  I couldn't be more excited for our family to grow and to watch Jamie raise this little boy.  She's already a great mom to Regan.

Then there is my mother who is the ultimate example of a great mom.  One who puts her children before herself ALL the time.  Who, without fail, cries every time we have to leave when we're visiting home.  Who encourages me to do things like getting my hair done and even tanning because she knows it will make me feel better (that's one of my favorites).  Who really was the "cool/hip" mom growing up and still is.  Who reminds us everyday how much she loves us and teaches us great lessons about how to be a better person and who talks to me on the phone multiple times everyday [you think she's be annoyed with me..haha].  My mom's been through the most but I've never seen her lose faith.  She truly is my angel and best friend and I thank my Heavenly Father everyday for sending me to her and my Dad and for blessing me with an AMAZING brother and sister.

Someday I will be a mother and when that day comes, I can only hope [for my children's sake] to be just like them--the Greats!

Happy Mother's Day :) I LOVE YOU.

Lobster Red Calves and Pale Pink Shins.

We're supposed to learn from our mistakes.  To have one of those life altering moments where we pull ourselves out of the situation, occasionally slap ourselves in the face and say, "I really screwed up" or "OK.  Enough it enough."  It's at that moment that we commit to never go down that road again.  But why is it that we, at some point in our lives, tend to find ourselves in that same exact situation a second, third or even fourth time?

I'm not the person to be asking.  I'm notorious for making a few mistakes more than once.  Some bigger than others.

On a small scale, it's like today when, after going tanning first, I decided that I was going to go outside to read and get some more sun.  It's common knowledge that overcast weather produces a nice burn but in the moment it's hard to know when enough it enough or when it's time to turn over.  Hours passed and because it's more comfortable to lay on my stomach to read I spent far more time that way.  I didn't want to turn over to my back because I was too comfortable the way I was.  I knew the physical consequences that would/did most definitely follow hours later--lobster red calves and pale pink shins.

I think we get that way some times.  We're too comfortable with the way things are going that we are afraid to admit that we need to make a change.

Well friends, it's time.  Sure, the uneven burn will turn to tan and will even out but why not learn from it the first time and get it right the next time? :)

...I'm working on it.

ipod refresh.

It's been a while since I've posted some music.  It's probably because I've been so crazy busy that i've been neglecting my ipod, which, is sad.  Today I realized that I really need to get my Christmas music taken off because it's really cramping my "shuffle flow." You know?

Here's a couple of recent loves worth listening to:

Silverstein's new album came out last week and it's fantastic.  Listen to the album and you'll understand my love for them.  Can't do screamo? Don't worry.  They've included a few acoustic and piano versions that are toned down and super amazing.  Listen to the song below.  In fact, just buy it.  I LOVE his voice.  While your at it, listen to the song "Forget your heart." The piano version of it's good too!

Next.  I've been in love with the song "Good to You" by Mariana's Trench for a while now but just haven't had the chance to share it.  The voices together in this song are fab.

Me--Part Dos.

1.) I have a weird obsession with Lysol Wipes.
2.) Without fail, I tear up during every episode of the Biggest Loser.  Alright, Alright, I cry during a lot of TV shows.  I was a mess on the finale of the Office and even cried this morning as I watched the Season Finale of My Life as Liz.  Go ahead. Judge.

3.) I absolutely love music. All kinds. Especially the stuff that's not played on the radio over and overrrrr again.

4.) Despite my loud voice, freakishly loud laugh and sometimes hyper personality.. I really enjoy being in silence sometimes and doing nothing.

5.) I can't stand when you know that two characters in a movie are supposed to kiss and you wait for it to happen at the end of the movie and it doesn't happen. grrr. Annoying. Boo, Tron.

6.) Sometimes I think that I would be really good at doing one of those late night talk shows on the radio.  You know, the kind where people call in and tell you their problems and you get to give them advice but they have one of those disclaimers letting people know that it's not profesh? Yep.  It would give me my fix of drama and awkwardness but it would have nothing to do with my life.  That's my kind of drama. I'd LOVE every minute of it.

7.) Many people find it strange that I HAVE to wear socks to bed.  Get over it.  If there aren't flip flops or shoes of some kind on my feet, I have to put socks on or my feet feel really weird (unless i'm walking in sand or grass or something).  It's kind of like the feeling I used to get from touching newspaper, but on my feet.  I hate the feeling.  I've tried not wearing socks and just walking around the house barefoot but I can't do it.  who knows why...

8.) I LOVE slipping into bed after washing my sheets and duvet cover and perfectly making my bed.  It's seriously the best night of sleep and I usually have the best dreams.  It would be nice to have someone to do that for me every day.  Maybe when I'm rich or something? haha.
9.) I mentioned how I like writing cheesy notes...well, I'm a sucker for cheesy cards too. Like ones with kittens on them (despite my not-so-friendly view toward cats) or with super sappy poems.  I love getting them.  I love giving them. The cheesier, the better.

10.) I stopped drinking soda my Freshman year in High School.  Since then, my favorite drink has and will always be: Ice Water with a Straw :)

*Bonus # 11--Recent Annoyance: Facebook's lack of creativity and drama.  Get with it people!  You're slacking.  I guess summer is around the corner so it's bound to pick up.  Wow.  I'm a terrible person.

If you missed "part one" of this segment, you can read it here...not like my life is super interesting or something.

Happy Cuatro De Mayo, Mi Amigos.
(Yes, we Celebrated Cuatro de Mayo at the Office today. Weird? Totally. But I'm all about the free Guac!)

Bring it on (not the movie with the cheerleaders that has had multiple crappy remakes.)

Sometimes life is like the Tower of Terror-- Filled with many ups and downs [literally] that come so suddenly that it's sometimes hard to figure out how to react..  Do you scream because you are scared?  Do you laugh because you are having fun?  Do you puke because that one drop seemed like it was never going to end?

With each up and down, emotions vary between individuals.  Even though you may be screaming and grasping the bar down on your right hip, the person next to you might be laughing and thrusting their fist in the air as if to say: "Bring it on!"  All-in-all, there's loads of screaming, butterflies, laughing, and the occasional puking.

To me, the scariest part of the ride is that moment when you think that things are finally good and your stomach starts to settle and it still has another big surprise drop in it.  I've been in Utah for exactly a year now and I've just finally started feeling that things are really "good" an "on track."  The moment I realized it and said the words out load, I found myself almost sick to my stomach with the huge changes and downs that struck the last couple of weeks.  It really was like my stomach was just settling and I could finally catch my breath and man running the ride thought, "OK, you're ready for another drop."

What's the point? Do you WANT me to puke all over right now? I don't think so.

Is it to see how we each react?

Bingo.

Although I'm super bummed about the change(s) that happened today ( boundary changes in wards for Davis County... tragic, long, boring story) and everything about this crappy week, I know that I have to except it, follow it and carry on.  I chose to get on this ride and I might as well make the best of it.

Maybe the Man running the ride gives us the surprise drops to keep us on our toes.  And just think... we could be on a drop that really NEVER ends.  At least there are lots of ups thrown in there too :)

Goal:  Be the person on the ride who, with their fist in the air, screams: "Bring it on!"
